Generator for powering heat/AC?

Maybe you should check the boat design of a cruiser with a transom door and what bimini style anchoring is and what can happen with a wind direction change before you run your mouth and call someone ignorant, look it up it happened at Ponce Inlet. ******************

I didn't call you ignorant. I said thinking a gas that's lighter than air wouldn't rise is ignorant. Based on your first mention of the incident here, you know CO will rise over the transom, so clearly I couldn't have been referring to you, right?

Name-calling is disrespectful. Now I've called your behaviour disrespectful but still haven't called you any thing.

Florida is beautiful. I'm calling the State of Florida beautiful, not you.

Narcissistic much?

Assuming equal temperature, CO is only about .035% lighter than air.
In uncontrolled environment, CO can easily go anywhere the normal atmospheric air will be.
Thank You

Assuming the exhaust of an internal combustion engine would have a temperature equal to that of an air-conditioned boat cabin is ignorant. Likewise assuming the ambient air temperature (obviously at sea level) wouldn't be well below that of the generator's exhaust is clearly erroneous.

Im just stating the facts, I was threre, you werent. Apparenty your lack of knowledge of boating is a contributing factor in this discussion. First, bimini style anchoring is when you drop two anchors in opposite directions NOT allowing it to swing into a headwind. On a Cruiser style boat, the swim platform is probably a foot above the water. Going through the transom door to get to the aft cockpit deck is usually one or two steps more. Moving forward is another step to the helm section of the forward section of the cockpit. NOW THE NEXT PART IS THE KEY CONTRIBUTING FACTOR. Cruisers have a forward and aft bimini top, the forward bimini usually has side curtains made of isinglass on the forward and side sections with the back OPEN to the rear cockpit so it is basically a giant wind scoop if you would be looking forward.Being anchored bimini style and not allowing the boat to swing with the wind, the wind would be coming in from the back. With the gen exhaust RISING as soon as it topped the transom it would have been blown forward into the cockpit and forced into the forward bimini “scoop” forcing it down into the cabin. The reason you would use bimini style anchoring is not to allow boats to swing into each other with a wind direction change with all the boats having different anchor rode length. This was the finding of the Coast Guard for the cause of the fatalities.
Look, I dont go on this site to start arguements, and match intellect. I was just passing on some info that might help someone when factoring his project and keeping his family safe.Lets just write this up as a misunderstanding of the facts and not have it turn into a pissin contest. OK?

Thanks for all the constructive comments. CO2 monitor is a cheap insurance if you are going to run any kind of fuel burning engine or heater near or in your vehicle.

I've been on some diving boats that were like 40' version of the Titanic life boats and we were getting nauseous with the diesel engines idling o_O. Those were completely open deck boats.

Yeah, I know what you mean, my buddy has a 42’ Hateras Sportfish. You better have a gas mask when he fires it up, sitting at the dock! LOL I like to go up on the tower, what a ride a view.
