GenII Frontier Air Compressor

Where should I mount it?

I am stuck between the ARB CKSA12 and the CKMA12. They both seem to be able to handle my MAIN requirement (airing up tires), and at nearly a $100 difference, is there a quantifiable amount of difference?

Okay, back to the main, WhereTF am I going to stick it? BedBox? Underneath somewhere?

Advice herein is welcomed. Please brainstorm. :)

Where are you getting your info??

I would not recommend the CKSA12 for tire duties at all, air locker operation ONLY. Its a great unit for air lockers, but it would seriously lack in airing up tires IMO.

The CKMA12 is an excellent offering, good bang for the buck, fast, efficient and designed to air tires.

There is a ton of info regarding compressors of all types in this thread:

Cursory search on ARB. I thought it mentioned the smaller being okay for light tired duties.

I guess that's decided which one to get for me, I'll go wtih the "M". :)

Now, where should I mount this thing on my Frontier? :smiley_drive:

Buy that rear bumper we were all googling at on the thread below and place it where your old spare tire would go. That's if you go the route of that bumper.

Only place I can really think of. im alot of help :)

I mounted an ammo can in my bed and have the compressor installed in it along with the pop off and other accessories. Eventually I'll pull the box out and replace it with a full bed box twelve inches deep and mount it beside the air tank.

I did have it mounted in the engine compartment but I had a difficult time mounting it and feared it'd overheat. Thus it was moved.

Since the pump in mind is quite small, see if it will mount under one of the seats.
It's that small?

I was thinking it would be the size of... .50cal ammo can? (can't think of anything universal to compare my assumptions of size to.)

I'd not recommend mounting a compressor that's going to be running much inside the cab, much less under a seat. They tend to build up quite a bit of heat.

I do have a small compressor inside but it's for my Ranch shock adjusting system and runs for as long as I push the button which is usually less than thirty seconds.

I'd considered putting a large one behind my rear CC seat but tons of people told me to get hearing protection. They're not exactly quiet.

Under the hood, the do generate tremendous amounts of heat, in fact more than many of the comparable compressors, all by design of course.

Amen to that!
