How do you get spare parts for a Canter from any part in the world ?
What if your favorite -local- dealer has not them in stock or can not ship to you overseas ?
Well, while in Mexico, I needed parts for a Japanese Canter from 1994. And could not get them through North Am dealer nor Aussie one (specific model, narrow FG538B).
I found exceptional help and quality of service from Taka. He is based in Japan.
He took the time to answer each and every question I asked him (some mails had more than a dozen).
He sent me the diagrams to help me identify precisely what I was talking about, or trying to talk about.
Thanks to Taka, we are now back on tracks.
Any of you in a similar problematic situation, away from home, might want to have a B plan: check www.fuso-auto.co.jp
I usually don't advertise, but having been put several weeks before I found Taka's company details (it is an independent business, not a sub of from Fuso), I would feel bad not sharing this very useful resource with any other possibly stranded fellow Long Distance and Duration traveler.
Note re shipping: Taka doesn't invoice shipping due to currency-change/customs-regulations fluctuations, so best is to open a carrier account with your credit card details before you leave home (we did not, so we had to do it in a distance. BTW Fedex was the easiest and quickest to deal with).
Happy new year and safe travels !
