We have been watching the GlobeRider DVDs from Helge Pedersen. This is the guy who crossed the Darien Gap on a moto - SOLO.

Instead of me viewing and reviewing them all, I handed them out to friends that have a love for motos.

I will post up the reviews as they come in.

You can buy them here: http://www.videoxsports.com/adto.html

I finally finished watching the video. My comments are below:

The Adventure Touring Instructional DVD by Heldge Pedersen is an in depth resource for the novice adventure rider needing to learn tricks of the trade on gear packing techniques and comprehensive tire repair. Heldge, in his amiable everyday man style shows how to repair & replace tires, tubes and punctures in less than ideal real world scenarios with minimal tools. He shows us that the BMW has more nooks and crannies to stash parts and gear than a squirrel has pouches to hide nuts. Bolting spare brake pads to his rear license plate is classic and only comes from his years of experience. I would recommend this video to any novice dual sport rider, BMW or otherwise.

While watching the video, as a gearhead, I would have liked to have seen more time spent on the details of Heldge’s augmented tool kit. As an experienced rider, I did not need close up details of the tire repairs however I believe this would be helpful for the novice and add value to the DVD. Some simple re-editing to give these details in snap shot form between steps would be sufficient.

One that will disappoint you.

Scott,

I own the one he did for his trip across Iceland on F650GS'. I found it very disappointing. Because of my bad experience with that one, I haven't purchased any of the others. I hope your experience with the rest of the DVD's turns out better. Please let me know.

I also have the Dual Sport Riding and Advanced Dual Sport riding DVDs. These two are worth every penny!

As a realtor friend would say, "Here's the deal." I'm new at riding bikes, but physically old. :bike_rider: I take things easy and want to learn as much as possible to keep from tearing this geezer bod to bits. Helge's DVD really didn't teach me anything I didn't know from 30+ years of prepping for 4WD off-roading. The vidiography (sp?) and script weren't all that good, and to be honest, the DVD seemed really short in length. I get more entertainment from clips found on ADVrider and youtube.

The dual sport riding DVDs, on the other hand, are full of great information. In fact, I'm still working on learning all the ideas from the first DVD in the series. I'm getting really good, for an old fart, at standing on the pegs and maneuvering my Dakar around. I've still got a long way to go, but these DVDs are really helping me get there. I want to convert both to work on my Ipod so I can take them into the field with me.

So I hope you'll accept my comments not as negative statements on their own, but as a personal account of what I've found out that may be of assistance to others that read this.
