Hi all,

I've been Searching and can't find any info or walkthrough you tube video about replacing the glow plugs on my 2001 E350 7.3. Got some engines codes P0674: Cylinder 4 Glow Plug Circuit Fault P0672 Cylinder 2 Glow Plug Circuit Fault. So I want to replace plugs harness and the module.

I know there are people in this forum whit a lot of mechanic knowledge, that maybe can give me some advise about the process of doing it.
Like in what order to start any special tools do I have to disconnect both batteries. What really not to do.
I have replace sparkplugs, exhaust, brakes and never owned a diesel engine until now and want to learn whit my own car so if something goes bad its mine anyway.

Thanks.

They suck to replace. Harness is a real good idea. PSD modules are very robust though. Don't cheap out on glow plugs. Motorcraft/Beru only.

DieselORings.com has information, and decent prices on parts. He's also got a better than stock monster glow plug relay.

I've ordered parts for mine, but for now they're sitting on the shelf. When you do yours, post some pics and tips... I'm in the same boat as you. Mine hasn't given a code, but it won't start withought a battle unless the block heater has been plugged in for 30+ minutes. Its 4 batteries will start will start it in a pinch... But there'll be enough smoke to make you think the fog rolled in.

Hi Bikersmurf will let you know when I do it. Got hold on a manual that is going to be most useful. Waiting for the gasket to arrive Mwilliamshs got everything stock from ford.

Sounds good.

I bought Ford parts through DieselORings for about half the price of the local Ford stealership here in Canada. The relay I bought is supposed to fit without mods and do a better job for a very long time. I only want to do things once if I can.

They're under the valve cover, not fun on a van!

Hell, they are not even fun in a pickup.

once the valve covers are off it is easy.

Getting to, and removing the valve covers is normally the issue, at least in a pickup.

Well, for starters.... diesels dont have spark plugs. :sombrero:

Removing the glow plugs can be difficult, and breaking the heads off in the act of removing them is a disaster.

I'm interested in see how the replacement goes. I having a bit of a hard start problem. I'm not convinced it is glow plug or relay related however

Plug it in for 8 hours. If it starts normally or markedly better after that but doesn't otherwise, your problem is likely glow plug related. They still glow at post-plug-in temps but are less necessary.
