GMC 2500 CV Joints

Hello, I have a higher mileage 2007 GMC Sierra 2500HD 6.0l gas. The CV joints are wearing out and therefore I need to replace them but I would like something a little more expedition strong/wearing. I don't want some really expensive offroad type CVs and shafts but a good quality rugged long lasting unit. Does anybody have any suggestions or brands?

I would price factory replacements, then compare that with aftermarket. If those are original your best bet may be to stick with some like it.

Thanks, but i was not only hoping to upgrade but to not pay nearly triple

NAPA gold (I think that is what they are called called) seem to be about the best option in my opinion, about $80 each and they are new rather than remanned. These were considered the good choice form my Tacoma days and I have continued to use them since trading up trucksizes to my 07 2500 HD Classic with good results.

Do you have a level kit or cranked t-bars in front?

not seeing a lot of variety, some OEM replacements for $50-80ea, or Delco OEM for 5x as much. I certainly don't imagine there are any 'off road' firms selling any for less than Delco OEM, either.

Were it me, I'm put in a new pair of the OEM-equivalent replacements and buy a 3rd for a take-along spare if I'm going somewhere where I think I might break one. Total about $250 adn I get all the practice I need putting the first two in, to replace one in the field.

This is the answer IMO.

I replaced mine with re-manufactured ones, and they gave me the wrong length, (return put in wrong box apparently, and I snapped my front left out on the trail first trip out. I was able to hobble home and decided to look into the CV's a little more.

I ended up going with the "higher end new" (based on me inspecting multiple different brands and stores. I settled on the new, more expensive ones from O' Reilly's because they seemed to have the best fit and finish and seemed to hae better boots than the other brands. (I think they were $90 before my 20% coupon.) Not that does much for true strength. I then bought an extra one and carry it around.

I think this is a better option than spending 200-300 the Delco's, and not having an extra.
