Hey guys what are you using for Backup Cameras on your Savana/Express Vans ?

I saw this and I was wondering the quality of the camera and if it was a good buy.

Idid a backup camera on the third brake light setup, because I wanted a vantage point as high up as I could get. Most of the ones available had the common complaint of being too close to the body and had their field of view blocked by the curvature of the rear barn doors. I hunted around trying to find the style that pushed the camera as far out as possible, in hopes of looking past the doors.
It works pretty well, and while I cannot see the actual rear bumper of the van, the cutoff of the curve (view angle) is almost directly inline of the bumpers edge. If you look closely you can just make out the Clevis recovery ring at the edge of the doors. Hope this helps.

How much did you pay for that camera and do you have a link? Thanks for an alternative option and a review

I managed a to get one on eBay for $75 from a 3rd party seller. The only issue(s) I had with it was the mounting/guide tangs had been ground off and the screws provided were too small to engage the plastic. Probably why I was able to get a deal on it. Ended up using the stock mounting screws with a metric m4 fender washer. Tangs were not an issue; there is enough tension to hold the whole assembly in place. The light has been through several car washes and storms with nary an issue.

Hunt around; you may find a deal on it.

With regards to the camera set up you found, I have read that they work well regarding longevity and picture quality, but the main issue is the fact you cannot see the rear bumper. Guys were still having to guess the approximate distance. Maybe if you had a camera that had the pre-indexed distance lines, it might help with that. It was for this reason I was looking for a camera that was as far away from the body of the vehicle as possible like the Mercedes E350.
This would be a good inexpensive compromise.

I got one in this style. I do lose view of the bumper under the curve of the doors but have learned where things are and it works great. I stop when the object appears to line up with the curve of the door and I'm an inch or so off whatever I was backing towards. Makes parallel parking a blast. People literally gape in awe. I did get a longer ball hitch so it sticks into view and makes connecting trailers like magic. I got a wireless transmitter so install was super easy. I plugged it into a Pioneer head unit and powered and triggered it with the reverse lights.
The versions that look like a banana bulging out of the brake light sucked for me. They viewed about 3-4ft behind the van, so useless in my opinion.

I paid 130 for the camera/brake light and the wireless transmitter parts. Sellers email for PayPal was ebay12volt4less@yahoo.com but I don't see the transaction in my eBay Purchase History so not sure if I found it elsewhere or what.

Ok, looking back more I think what I did was buy a kit from TadiBros
https://www.tadibrothers.com/produc...e-light-wireless-backup-camera-birds-eye-view
Didn't like the camera, returned it keeping the already installed wireless part and then purchased the type of light above. So I probably paid $50ish for the wireless kit and another $130 for the camera/brake light. Seems like a lot but I am happy every dang day. Sorry I can't remember where I sourced the camera/brake light.
