GMC wheelchair van reconversion

I bought a 2009 AWD GMC Savana with 12k miles. It was lightly used as a Wheelchair van in S California and has never seen dirt or snow. I’m in the process of reconverting it with includes removing the body kit, wheelchair lift, EZ lock floor lock, and power swivel seat base that was used to transfer from the WC to drivers seat. I’ve gathered some great ideas from this Website so here are some that I’m learning as I go.

First step was to remove the body kit. With the kit on there was only about 7” of ground clearance. These extensions were screwed into the main body and also riveted into it. The screws were easily removed by pulling off trim sections on kit. I used a heat gun to loosen the adhesive. Then it was a matter of removing the screws and drilling out the rivets. One removed they just fell off and I picked up an additional 6-7” of clearance.
