GMT800 trucks: Driver Information Center brightness?

Just wanted to get a rough survey of those who have GMT800/NBS Chevy/GMC trucks (2000-2006 models, may be 2007 for some pickups):
.
How "bright" is your Driver Information Center (DIC) display? I'm just wondering if there may be something wrong with mine. Now, the PRND321 display is very dim, and I know this is a well known problem with these trucks, which I plan on getting fixed.
.
But the DIC that displays things like Fuel Range, Average MPG, Odometer, Trip Meter, etc, often "washes out" in bright sunlight, especially if I'm wearing sunglasses. Just wondering if they are all like this or if mine is going dim? Can most of you clearly read your DIC displays even in bright sunlight? I only drove a couple of GMT800 trucks so I don't know if they're all like this or not.

.
Thanks in advance!

The DIC brightness is tied in to the adjustment knob for the gauge brightness if I'm not mistaken, so make sure it's not turned down. I know that seems obvious but sometimes it's the little things :)

I think I keep my adjustment knob (2003 Silverado) about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way up and I've rarely had trouble reading it due to light interference, but it certainly washes out more than displays on newer vehicles.

There's a good chance that you have a bulb or two out in the display. My stepper motors and several bulbs have decided to go out at 154xxx miles, so I plan to replace all of them while it is opened up...
