This guy was sneaking around in my front yard today. He wasn't very happy when I stuck my camera into the bushes where he thought he was hiding.:D

Way cool. I've always wanted to see one in person but I've heard they are getting pretty rare.

We seem to have a few living nearby. I see them just about every summer once or twice. Pretty cool little monsters as long as you don't let them get a chomp on you. :Wow1:

For those outside Arizona these are called Gila Monsters.

Very cool Brad! I haven't seen any in a year or two.

Don't worry too much about them getting their chompers around you -- they have to drool and gnaw on you for a while before they can swallow.

I'm not worried about the swallowing part. It's all the drooling and gnawing that I dislike.

Awesome shots!

My husband and I saw one at the Bryce Thompson Arboretum. Just walked right out in front us on one of the walkways. I have been here for 2 years so I was pretty stoked to see it.

And for those laughing Australians I'm embarrassed to admit that, yes, we really do call it a 'monster.'
