Going Price on 100 Series/LX470?

Guys, my wife wants to move from her 2000 4Runner to a 100/470. This would be her daily, family ski rig, White Rim type rig, etc. I've got a mild build Taco for harder stuff and an E150 for Yellowstone or fishing type trips.

I've been monitoring here, craigslist and few other sites and prices seem all over the board. I see people asking $10-15k with 200K+ and some at 100k for $12-25k.

I'm looking for a clean, stock LC with 75-100k miles so we can keep it for the next 200k. I live in Seattle and want a western, rust free truck. What should I pay for this (good condition, books and records, timing belt done, etc.)?

Sorry if this belongs somewhere else or has been answered recently.

I paid $22k two years ago for a pretty clean 2006 with 135k in the clock. It had a decent service record, but needed some base lining and corrections.

Given what I've done to it (new shocks, tires, 90k service, new MAP DVD, Bluetooth adapter, etc) I'd likely ask about the same for it with 145k now.

Once you get over 200k I think the numbers start to look more like the $10-15k range.

Just my $.02

If you're willing to travel, you can find decent prices on 98-02 100 series in the southwest. A lot of them for sale are in the 8-13k price range with some under 160k when I was looking a few months back. Of course if you want the 5-speed/vvti etc with lower mileage then yes be prepared to pay much more.

Good luck, personally I think the older hundys are great buys and higher mileage ones shouldn't worry you if its been kept up.

What is an early gen, clean car fax, one owner with records, under 100k and a new timing belt worth in the southwest?

There are more variables to your equation to really get an accurate number. The year of the target vehicle will come into play. To find a cruiser under 100K, it is most likely going to be a newer one. You also need to decide if 2003+ (5 speed tranny) or 2006+ (VVti/more HP) is important. The other issue is that in the mileage range you specified it is right about due for the timing belt. I'd rather have 100K and a new belt for the same price as 80K with a belt change coming. I wouldn't put a huge emphasis on mileage. I'm not saying 200k is as good as 100K, but I wouldn't set hard limits on yourself. Cruisers aren't that common, and it would be silly to pass up a nearly perfect, well maintained cruiser with 140K in order to find one with under 100K and accept other issues. A 2003 with 100K is only doing about 8K/year. I find low annual mileage to be worrisome as it may mean a vehicle only used for short trips and having sat for long periods.

I'm also in the market for a 100 series right now and am actually willing to go 1998 to 2007 for the right vehicle/price. I do want under 200K as the upper limit, but that is simply because I want to be able to keep it for the long haul. (my preference is 2003+ and ideally 2006+, but not sure I want to spend the money for a 2006+). Even with my broad search, pickings are slim for good vehicles. But at least you will be looking at Western vehicles.

If you want under 100K, I'd be looking for at least a 2003+ For a nice 2003+, I would expect to pay low teens to 20K. A nice 06 or 07 with under 100K is going to be a good bit over 20K. But I would recommend a willingness to accept higher mileage in exchange for a better maintained/appearing vehicle. Not only will it likely be cheaper, it will likely be a better experience than an "acceptable" vehicle with low miles.

I acquired an 06 w/97k earlier this year for $25.5k. TB/WP service had been completed as well as all fluids in the driveline as part of the 90K service. Do not underestimate the amount of data that can be found if you register a vehicle on Toyota Owners site. I was able to find service invoice numbers and detail so I could follow up to determine what had been done and at what frequency. It gave me some confidence in the history of a 10 year old vehicle.

Purchased our '07 LC with 153K on it from the original owner, NC truck, dealer maintained with full stack of records on it in July of this year for $20K.

Good luck in your search. They are great vehicles and if you find a good one they are worth every penny :safari-rig:

I bought my '99 a year ago in the Seattle area for $13,000 Canadian (it was 500 yds north of the border). That would have been in the area of $11,500 USD at the time. It had 170k on it, with brand new OME suspension, new brakes all around, new 33" MTs and a clean history. Other than a seam coming unraveled on the passenger seat it was pretty mint. Bone stock '98-'00 were going for $9,000-$13,000 at dealers around Seattle. I bought the one I did because I trusted that the seller was honest, and everything he owned (house, cars, wife etc) were spotlessly clean and well maintained.

I just purchased a 2006 470 with just under 54k for 27. It's in mint condition, and I'm very pleased with the purchase. Good luck!

Mine ran me $11.5k, it is a 2000 with 124k on it. Always a California truck, good condition.

Cheers
