Gokracer1's 2013 JKUR Build

Just got the new Jeep in last week and finally got some time last night to install some goodies to get going!
Some background: I have a 2008 JK Rubicon 2door that fairly built. I love it off road, but don't like driving it for 7-8 hours up to UT with the 3.8l V6, and the 35" tires, also interior space is very limited for the longer trips. Also, I spoiled the wife a little with a RTT and a trailer for that JK. I didn't like pulling the trailer so much but I wanted a vehicle big enough to hold a RTT with no issues and correct proportions. So out with the trailer and in with a 98 LX470. I had the hopes to make that a Expo type vehicle and keep both it and the JK. Well once I started toying around with the LX I decided before I dumped crazy money into a 100 series to make it crawl like my Jeep, I better reevaluate.. In that time we also decided that we wanted something to sleep in that has hard sides and doesn't flap like crazy in those spring winds. So the RTT is now gone as well, a Teardrop build is coming.. But want to get the new Jeep paid first. Well within the past month LX is gone (To a happy Forum member) and 2013 JK Unlimited Rubicon is in...

I have the OME heavies in my '11 JKUR. There are two "heavy" spring rates. I went with the lighter of the two and the ride is fantastic. If you are doing bumpers, and putting your drawers and water tank etc in, you might want the stiffer springs. Looks like it will be a fun build!

How was your experience installing the spod switch cluster above the mirror? Did it fit well? Any trimming? I have installed the module under the hood but have yet to install the switches.

It isn't too bad at all. I had one installed in the other JK as well so had some experience before. I did have to barley trim the factory panel above the windshield for the switch bracket to clear. But I mean barley, like 1mm x 2mm off the corners (this part is in the instructions). Came out great I love the spod can't beat it!

Congratulations!

I love the orange & looking forward to following your build.

I'd encourage you to also check out the AEV 2.5. I ran a few different versions of the OME coils and they were all good. But I switched to the AEV 2.5 w/ geometry correction brackets & its noticeably better. Just my experience & figured I'd share.

Keep the pics coming!

Nice dual battery setup. Did you have to remove anything from the engine compartment for them to fit? Great build. Thanks, Fernando

I used the MORE Dual Battery Tray. It was one of only 2 avalible that I could find... Very solid, but not really liking the strap to hold the batteries in. I plan on doing a solid hold down of some kind.
You have to remove the old battery tray which is basically most of the right side of the engine compartment. It holds the battery, fuse block, and air box. You have to pull it all out as one piece. Cut the hold tray off and install new tray, and half the OE to still hold the fuse block and air box. It took me about an hour to install, it really wasn't too bad. There is a Youtube video online with the install. Just google "MORE 2012 JK dual battery tray"
