Good or Bad it's Mine

I found what I think was a good buy on an old Pop up. I forgot to take pics before I started sealing it up. The only tag I can find says it's a Vanguard.
I'm going to to a rattle can color match to my truck and see what it looks like.

I coated the bottom as well as all the down facing surfaces with some elasticize roof coating.

If it meets your needs for even a few season's it'll answer the question of whether a pop up is what you want at a modest expense. With the TLC you put into it, you'll probably get your $$$ back and then some if you decide you don't like it.

The canvas appears to be in great condition. If the rest of it is any where near that, you probably have a winner!

i found some water damage to the left front cab over section. I believe it's sealed now and I have it drying out. I'm debating on fixing it now or wait till I get it out a few times.

I loved my topper and rack set up, but I'm 50 and have a hard time dressing while laying down. I'll get it out for a few weekend trips and go from there.

i would definately just get it clean enough to use and then go camping. i wish i had taken my own advice, I brought my Alaskan home, decided to fix a few things before i used it, its been a year that the camper has been ripped apart in my shop.
Enjoy, I would have guess that it was a Starcraft.

Ripper, That's what I was thinking/ I want to spend more time going than building.
I Googled Vanguard campers and i think it's a pre-Palomino unit?
If this turns into something that I spend real time doing and enjoying, I can more easily stomach spending money on a newer/nicer unit.
I still check the web every day for someone getting rid of their FWC or Phoenix.

That's what I told myself 4 years ago when we got our camper. We get 30-40 nights a year in ours and it's still going strong.

Looks good uncle  I don't think I've seen one like that before. Appears to be in good shape.. How's the interior? Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

The interior is not bad but is showing it's age. There's a little spot of water damage at the front left under the bunk.

I'm still checking Craigslist every day for a more modern camper, but I want to get this one out a few times to truly see if this is something I want to invest in.

I'm also kicking around the idea of building from scratch, a cab over fold up A frame. I could gut this one for it's components. But, all this is dependent on how much I use and enjoy what I have.

Looks like a nice find! The softwall even looks good.

I have a little moisture that gets in my front cabover corners too. I haven't found how it gets in, so I just put the top mattress in, endwise before I lower the roof so the front corners can get air circulation.

I've stuck with my $500 camper. It's a good fit for me. I couldn't see myself in anything more modern.

Enjoy! The haul rig looks nice as well.

Thanks for the compliment. $500 is what I paid for this one. Here's a couple pics of the turkey woods last spring. The truck does an awesome job and the topper is good for what it is. I'm looking forward to getting this out in a couple weeks and see what I think.turkey woods.jpg20140621_093637.jpg
