I'd also like to make a note on sand travel. We used these in a sandy river bed. Even at dirt road pressure (about 20-25) the tires would dig in under full throttle but would easily climb out with gentle throttle. A couple of trucks BFG KM2s (with approximately 33x10.50) actually dug in and got stuck, requiring 4x4.

I was kind of wondering how they would handle the sand. We don't do too much sand travel but every now and then (once or twice a year) we hit the sand dunes and some deep silty roads.

i have them ,love them and thats coming from a bfg guy ..i have at's on my truck f250 they work good on the heavy truck but have duratracs on my fj,no slipping anywhere ..:victory:

The tread void space is more similar to an all terrain than a mud, which of course allows better flotation rather than digging in. What is awesome is that the tires self clear in mud exceptionally well for having the tighter void.

Just bought a new set for the trailer today and compared to the ones on the 4R with 25,000 miles on them.

Brand new: ~1.3cm of tread...

...Used 25k miles: ~1.0cm of tread

I had mine rotated this weekend with just under 35,000 miles on them, and had 12-13 32nds (~ 0.95-1.03 cm) of tread left. I'm really surprised how well these are wearing. I figured that they'd be nearly gone after about 40,000 miles, but the way they're wearing now, I wouldn't be surprised if I get 60,000+ miles out of these :Wow1:

2008 Tacoma Double Cab 4x4, basically stock with ~100 lbs of stuff in the bed all the time. Tires are 265/75/16 C.

From what Ryan_S posted below, the tread had ~1.3cm of tread originally, which is equivalent to ~16.5 32nds. Although, he didn't say what size tire he was measuring, so it could be different than what I have.

Ryan_S - what size tire were you measuring in those pics?

Rover - how about some pics of the Kellys? Look like a good alternative for the money. Duratracs have gone up in price quite a bit in the last year! How are the Kellys on the highway? Seen to track well win reasonable noise?

well... there not actually on my truck yet. WHEN I get them on Im going to take them to the same place I took my NEW BFG KM2s and see if it preforms similarly.

I have these on my new Suburban beach fishing rig. 285/75/16. Put 120 miles of steady sand driving under them over the past couple of days, they don't do all that well. Had to air down to 18F/20R to keep from digging down in the thick sloppy stuff. They just kind of churn through, like mixing cookie dough. They eat up a lot of HP compared to smoother treads. On road, where they are loud, they seem to have some sidewall "wiggle" as well, making them feel vague. Maybe my wheels are too narrow for that size, not sure the rim width. I like that they are E rated, though. I run 40psi.

Wish they were Michelin LTX M/S's! Had those on the beach Xploder and they worked GREAT! I put at least 1000 miles of beach driving on those.

I am currently running 35 inch 11.5 by 15 inch BFg TAs. They work well in the snow but have much to be desired in mud. I guess that is to be expected with a TA tire. I am thinking about replacing the rears with Duratracs but I dont know if they make a load range `E´ in my size. Have any of you guys had a huge cmaper/canopy on the back and used these tires? Looking forward to hearing any input you guys might have... Cheers, Chilli.:)
