Goodyear Wrangler Silent Armor

I decided on this tire due to positive reviews around the net and I was looking for a good all terrain in the 255/75/17 size (32"). I always like to try something new, so I was excited to place the order.

The vast majority of miles are spent in basic DD duties, road trips including several trips up to the mountains each winter. I wanted to maintain good road manners, 20MPG potential, snow performance, silent and smooth and be reasonably good off-road.

The only other all terrains I have experience with are 265/70/17 Nitto Terra Grapplers so these will be my basis for comparison. I liked the Nittos very much and they performed well in the 45K miles I had them.

Pros:
-Quieter than Nitto's - Literally silent at all speeds, at 80mph i hear a bit of wind noise that's all
-Smoother than Nittos - no vibrations
-The size is perfect, the added height looks better, more clearance by a arms.
-IMO it looks more aggressive than Nitto due to its square shoulder
Cons:
-2 of the tires took a bit more weight than the others

I will add more feedback once I get to actually test them in different situations. And finally, here is how they look:

I've been running the same tire in a LT265 size for about 10,000 miles now after my brother tried them on his Suburban. I like how quiet they are and they are smoother riding then the BFG All Terrains I usually run. They were more expensive so I'm hoping I get good mileage out of them. I try to stay out of the mud (I'm lazy and don't like cleaning under the truck), thus far no complaints.

I had them a few yrs ago and they work well. Watch for sidewall bulges. There was a rash of them when I had mine and Goodyear replaced lots of tires under warranty.

I have a set of 265/60R18 Wrangler SilentArmors on an 09 WK Grand Cherokee with QDII. The SAs are excellent tires on the road and I'm running 37 psi for best balance of wear and road feel.

So far they have been great in modest off-road testing and slippery conditions. I have not yet run them in snow but I expect them to live up to their severe snow rating.

I also considered the Firestone Destination AT, Michelin LTX AT2, and Bridgestone Revo 2.

Any of those alternatives would have been fine, IMHO. And all better than the stock Fortera HLs that came on the Jeep.

I run the Silent Armors on both my Grand Cherokees. I've had them on for around two years and have no complaints. He in the Iowa winter they do good in the snow. I have yet to get stuck. Even when I was to lazy to snow blow the 18" of snow in the driveway:) Drove right out no problems. Never had any problems with them at all. Wife has jumped a few curbs and I have done some minor offroading with no complaints.

These are a very tough tire. The sidewalls with the kevlar are very strong. I had a rim fall off my old Grand at 65mph which totaled the Jeep. I went and found the rim that fell off and despite a HUGH gash in the sidewall (that was to the kevlar) it was still holding pressure and did so for like two weeks before I was able to get the tire swapped. Goodyear replaced it no problem for me and been good since.

I had these a few years ago on my Xterra, I did some light to medium trails with them and were quite pleased. I actually netted around 40K miles out of them and they were in fairly good shape when I took them off.

I actually put a new set on my Wrangler Unlimited this am, they feel great!

I had these on my FJ60. I didn't have them very long but had no complaints. I went with them because I was a bit underwhelmed by the Dueler Revos (on my Explorer) in the snow. Not sure if the Revo 2 has better snow capability.

When it comes time to replace my Michelin LTXs on the FZJ80, I will most likely go with the Wrangler SAs. (Generally I'm not a big fan of GY tires, but they seem to have gotten this right). The new GY Duratracs have also piqued my interest, but I'm thinking the Wrangler SAs will be quieter and better in snow.
