Google Books - Popular Science with Homemade Campers

Got a wild hair today and started searching Google Books for old magazine articles with camper builds. This one has van build-outs, rooftop tent builds, some trailers. I thought it was pretty cool.

The good stuff starts about here on page 118 and continues through about 145.

If you've know of other or find others, post them up!

Thanks!

Thanks for the link. In those days, if you had a saw, clamps, glue and a few sheet of plywood, Popular Science and Popular Mechanics were ready to help you be a car builder, boat builder, plane builder, house builder, ad infinitum.

The Popular Mechanics and Popular Science collections in Google Books are a lot of fun to review, especially in fifteen or so years after WWII. We sure were a hopeful bunch of kids back then, and it was all there to read about in Dad's PMs and PopScis. I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels cheated, by lowly practicality, out of the flying cars, nuclear-fueled airliners and personal jetpacks that were clearly just around the corner. :(

My feeble memory tells me some guy alerted me to, or emailed me, photos of a factory IH Scout camper like the one shown on page 136, bit I can't remember what I did with them. A quick Google search dredged up this post with larger clickable photos... http://www.justih.org/Binder-Bench/showpost.php?p=57369&postcount=3

Oh yeah... The dream is over... I've resigned myself to never having a Flying car.

Not meaning to offend anyone but I'm sure, I'm not the only Old-timer that gets a chuckle from some of today's high dollar gimmick/bling expedition rigs.

Hey what heck am I talking about... My rigs have more gadgets than Carter's has little liver pills... Plug 'n Play Punk. (juxtaposed smiley face crap)
