I see a lot of Chevys, but not a whole lot of GMC Savanas. I went from a Tacoma with a Four Wheel Camper to this 2005 GMC Savana. It's got AWD and is pretty well set up already. I think down the road I'll add a heater and maybe a mild lift.
The 3 popout panels are factory and they open with the regular key remote - I think it is called Pro Access Panels or something. I'm pretty sure they came with a wall behind them like for contrtactor's tools but that was removed to allow airflow. 2 of them are screened in and the front one is blocked by the cabinets.
Any idea on where I should put a propane tank? Might get a propex heater so I can camp out in the winter.
As money allows I'd like to get a few things like propane, heater, hi-top, small lift, and maybe a roof rack. It's fine as-is which is great so I'll enjoy it and add as time goes.
I am getting the windows tinted next week for some privacy and probably also make up some curtains too.
Excellent find! A rare van in good shape and already set up nice.
The access panels are just the ticket for camping, whether it is for grabbing stuff from outside like a soft top Jeep or laying in the bunk looking out. I wanted the access package, but it did not make the cut when the time came. Those panels are pretty durable, I would like to find some in a Junk Yard with the hardware and retro my window van some day.
Had the Boulder offroad lift installed, propex heater, and propane tank installed. Also got a roof rack and box set up now. I didn't get a chance to measure how much it ended up lifting it, but it turned out well.
