Did some work on the truck today to complete having a pretty much brand new front end. replaced upper and lower ball joints, u joints, oils seals, wheel bearing assembly and locking hubs. wanting this baby ready.

thats an awesome setup. I really like it.
Did you pick up the camper new or used how much did it set you back. My next purchase will be a grandby popup camper, they are only a few hours south of us.

I concur, you've had some really nice rigs and look like you are well on the way to building another one!

All great maintenance work, I've done much of that recently myself. Did you have the truck aligned after the ball joint replacement? My truck's handling was dramatically improved after replacing worn ball joints, a loose tie rod end, getting an alignment, and then flushing the power steering. Big surprise, right? I'm now back to being able to turn the wheels while sitting still. The parts wear so slowly over thousands of miles that I just got used to the steering getting sloppier. While I was in there I did my brakes and replaced the hoses with Crown Performance SS lines to avoid potential catastrophe.

Thank you. I'm enjoying this set up a lot. totally worth it. To answer your question, the camper set me back a couple of ks.They are hard to find for any cheaper than 6 or 7k. The camper is a 2004 and is in great condition. Has a water heater, outside shower, furnace, fridge, sink,stove, storage, 20 gal H2O tank roof rack flood lights, awning, the whole shebang! totally loaded, totally worth it.

It totally was worth doing all the work. It drives amazing now, not that it did not before but you can't beat knowing that your whole front end is good to go before hitting the road for a year. Got the truck aligned at the shop, and changed the front and read differential fluids. the last thing i have left it to change the transmition, and tcase before I leave. I checked all break components while i was all in there and everything looked solid, so I am not going to mess with it. Here are a couple of pics of finishing up and taking the rig out on a spin to test things out.

test 1 was a success. Went out into the Columbia River Gorge and into the the Mount Hood National Forest, SW of Hood River. Nice and muddy

Today was a good day. Finally it stopped raining and I was able to mount my solar panel and wire everything in place. Got myself a 250w 20A panel that will give me all the power I need to stay on the road and in the bush until we run out of food or things to hunt. Everything is coming together and the take off date is approaching very fast! exiting times. The camper has a couple of more things it needs like better insulation, a couple of organizers for the drawers and a welcome home mat. The truck is going to be going to the shop in a week to be giving a look by the experts . I was pointed towards DFI Performance by a friend of mine and after looking through their Facebook page they look like a solid bunch. I'm thinking maybe new shocks all around? TS performance chip? Here a couple of pictures of the solar panel set up. I didn't drill any holes on the camper but instead will be running the charging cord through my AC connector compartment when I want to hook up the panel and charge the battery. extremely simple to plug and unplug and I could take the system off the camper down the road without leaving any holes behind and use it anywhere else I want.

After spending a long time trying to figure out what to do with the front end of the truck, we decided to go the lighter, but most important cheaper route. There are some rad custom front bumpers out there but adding another 200+ lbs to the truck is something we wanted to stay away from. Instead, I searched craiglist over and over and finally found some shades not too far away. We made the trip out to get it and did a little bit of exploration along the way. The PNW is just amazing.

LED light bar for night driving in the forest was a must. I will take some good pictures when i get everything wired up. had to customize the mounting on the brush guard but it works great

Got myself new FOX shocks all around and changed the floor in the camper to a better color. Take off date approaching! I hope that all the little things are taken care of before we take off.:smiley_drive:
