There are two new sets of automator actions available from Apples web
site.

The first

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automatorgpsautomatoractions.html

Lets you download and upload information to/from your GPS. It also
lets you transform between formats

Garmin and Magellan are both listed as supported.

The second

http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/automator/geotaggingautomatoractions.html

The GeoTagging Automator Action automatically tags your images with
geographical coordinates and elevation data from a GPS track file.

I just downloaded both, but I haven't played with them yet. Thanks for the links!!

I also just upgraded to MacGPSPro 7.0. Some of the elevation stuff they've included is pretty cool as well as PDF conversion.

cheers

I have not had a chance to play with them yet - but I hope to during this holiday break :ylsmoke:

I look forward to hearing you thoughts on this app

Okay, I tried the Convert GPS files action yesterday. I was trying to get a GPSy file converted to kml for use on Google Earth. Ran it through automator and got garbage out. So I went through the docs, and it seems the automator conversion software is based on GPSBabel+. This is an OSX compiled version of GPSBabel (which is also what GE uses for conversion). So I downloaded GPSBabel+ and tried it and it worked like a champ!

The kml it produces is a bit verbose, and not very nicely set up (kinda like using word or excel to produce html), but for inputting 5000 points I wasn't complaining!

So, it seems the automator conversion app still requires a little work. I was only using universal csv to kml, and there are many many other conversion formats avaliable, so I can't talk to those for usability.

Be interested to hear how other people like it.

cheers

Hey guys - this Automator Actions download appears to be gone. It's not listed in the downloads any longer. The only download now that comes up when you search 'geotagging' is JetPhoto, a program (not an automator action).

Any ideas? Maybe they didn't work right?
