Great Horned Owl Find

Oh man, I'm so in heaven right now.

Had some guests staying with us here in Cedar Key who told me they found a Great Horned Owls nest while out paddling behind our place.

They showed me where it was and there are two fledgings in the huge nest right now.

Spent the afternoon watching them yesterday and went back first thing this morning. Got to watch the adult leave the nest, swoop down and snatch up a dove and bring it back to the nest for breakfast.

The next few weeks are going to make for some great owl photography for me

Here are a few I snagged yesterday. Better Beamer already on order because of all the harsh shadows with them being in the top of the trees

This fledging was hilarious. It would sit on the branch trying to take an afternoon siesta and once he would fall asleep, he would almost fall off the branch

There is a nest near our house in a big saguaro, last year there were a couple of young ones in there and I just got a call from a friend the other day that there are a couple of new young ones again. Can't wait to go photograph the new batch!

I love owls and looks like you have some willing subjects, sure hope you go back and get more.

Lots of birds starting to make their way back here the last couple weeks, took my Niece and Nephew down to the local wetlands today and found the Osprey's just returned and were working on the nest across the river.
Too far for any pics but got to watch a seagull chase one of them, just when it thought it was winning and the Osprey is zigging and zagging trying to lose it, along came the another Osprey diving in from behind and almost snagged it. :Wow1:
Poor seagull learned a valuable lesson today and probably won't be making that mistake again.

very nice images. I spent a few day trying to get images of a golden eagle. could not get anything worth talking about. maybe I will get to go back in the next few weeks.
