I would like to talk to the owner of the Land Cruiser about his rear tire carrer.
Can someone pass my email on to him? kai38@elp.rr.com
Thank you, Kirk SunLand Park NM USA

That is Scott Jensens truck, the carrier is something that Slee used to market, not sure about availability anymore. I'm sure Scott will provide more details on Monday when he gets back from Moab.

Hey everyone. Thanks for the comments!

The rear tire carrier is an eary Slee prototype (back when I lived in CO). It was cut & lengthened to accomodate 315s (35s). It was designed to rest on a custom rear receiver integrated into the 80's rear cross member; instead on mine there is a sloped `strike' (if you will) that bolts to the 4 pintle holes in the cross member (I didn't want to go cutting the rear cross member).

Any other questions you can post here, or I'll also email you my email address if there's something you want off-line?

l8r,

Nah, just an FZJ80 wishing it were a UZJ100...wait a minute...that's not what I meant...

Off-topic, but how cool would it be to have a blown 1FZ into the 100 though? I'm an inline bigot, and it kills me to hear my 2UZ-FE start in the morning.

Total ghetto-get-up :(

My ``roof rack'' is a set of 1.5" square tubes welded at convenient distances: the width of the the roof canvas bag, the length of my mountain bike wheelbase and the center sections at 16" apart for a spare tire/wheel :)

Anway, the jack is mounted with U-bolts (don't remember the length off had, but like 4-5") that just wrap the sqare tube below and stab the jack's holes; both front and back secured with wing nuts and two sets of lock washers: 1 against the wing nut, the other between two washers below that for some extra pressure.

I think you're kidding....right? :jump:

A S/C 80 with 4.88 gears gets eaten by a stock 100. A S/C 80 with 4.88 gears falls short of a 100 with 35-inch tires and no gears (a 12% loss of power).

You're kiddn'?

No actually, I'm not a V-engine fan. I'd love a straight engine in the 100. I'm not kidding on that. Just personal preference. That ain't gonna happen so I might as well just hope for a diesel 105 series :)

I was making 100 reference about my 80 wanting to be a 100 just to get you going.

Here is a great DIY tire carrier. I think I am going to go with the same idea but use 2" square tubing similar to receiver hitch material instead of the angle steel. I also don't think I'll weld to the frame. I'll probably use bolts and a plate instead.
