I was looking into affordable off-reading vehicles from the late 90's early 2000's. One such vehicle is the Montero Sport, the 2001 3.5 XS more specifically. I don't plan on rock crawling with it by any means. I just want to go up some mountain passes and whatnot. I am having trouble finding a true description of the details of the AWD system. Supposedly, it is an AWD system with a rear LSD that has the ability to be locked too. Some being sold advertise the 2001 3.5 XS are AWD with automatic locking hubs. There is full time AWD, High Locked, and Low locked. I see some people in forums say they don't lock, while others say they do. So what's the deal? Every forum I find says "this helped me" with a link attached, but there is always conflicting information on the AWD system having the ability to lock, or even having the LSD (I am talking specifically about the 2001 XS). I also am having trouble finding information on the XS, everyone talks about the XLS and Limited models. What is the main difference? What do you thing is a good price for one that is in good condition inside and out with between 150,000 to 200,000 miles on it? I am not worried about maintenance as I know my way around a car. I kind of have to be owning a 3000GT VR-4 :D. I really have been trying to figure this stuff out without posting another thread but the all the different answers I am finding are leaving me more confused than anything. Attatched is a picture of one I am looking at.

Thank you, I really appreciate the help.

Good looking XS. Those are one of the more rare packages and really boogies down the road with that 3.5L and AWD from what I've read
