GregB_00XJ M101 CDN2 "Way too Red" Build Thread (finally)

I think I need a bigger truck!
I have been dreaming of trips to warm places. I was hoping to do some work to the trailer before camping season starts. I have however picked up a new Jeep, so I dropped all my cash into that for now... and I still have to fix the XJ steering/LCA's. For now, it will go as is on its first trip I guess? I really want that water tank/water heater/pump setup though... it is invaluable!!

Need to sell a kidney or something?

And yes... lift and tires are already in the planning stages. 255 or 265 70 17 on some Moab's with a 2.5" lift and some wheel spacers. Probably Duratracks or the Hankook ATM. So fast with the 5.7L Hemi.

You went to the dark side..................Black!
Now the trailer will have to be torn apart, cleaned and sprayed gloss black.
Matching wheels and tires too. Oh so much work before camp season.........
Keep us posted on the changes.

Trailer stays the same... the XJ is the ExPo trailer hauler. The WK was bought to haul the BIG camping trailer and the family. The XJ hauls it ok, but it is small, light and gets pushed around by the bigger trailer. The WK has AWD/4X4, 4 wheel disk, full tow package and 350HP with 370 FT LB of torque. Much nicer to haul long distance.

I am super stoked on getting a small lift and some nice new shoes on the WK, but the 245 70 17 Michelin LTX MS+ are near new, and are actually a pretty phenomenal road tire. Tenacious grip and quiet. Offroad I am certain they would suck however, and I would not trust them on anything but gravel.

Have been researching water tanks, heaters and pump setups. I think a custom under bed tank is in order along with an Ecotemp L5 and a nice self priming flowjet 12v pump is in order (or will be on order).

Need another job!!

Picked up the wheels for the WK today...nice. Looking forward to getting them on there soon. As for the trailer project, I am stalled...no motivation. I havent looked at it in weeks and I still have work to do. At least the weather is getting better and I have 3 weeks of vacation that I get to carry over, plus my 4 weeks for this year (w00t)! I WILL be getting out in the woods soon...oh yes I will.

Minor updates...

Plans in the works for a kitchen, and a water system with on demand HW. I am pretty sure that I will have it in time for a WABDR trip planned...stoked. Also, I finally got my matching Jeep center caps on the trailer. Had to do some minor mods with the hole saw, but it worked well.

First work of 2013

I also repainted my Scepter Gas Cans... olive drab to match the new gas can caps I installed.

Making provisions to mount 2 on the trailer and one on the XJ. Mods coming to the Detours USA Tailbone for strength and accessories!!

I pulled out the tape and was like... hmm... already have the hole saw out.

Masked in 20 seconds.

Looked at the inverter today again, need to get that installed soon. Also started looking at my trailers underbelly and started planning for the water tank. Should sit nicely just in front of the axle with a skid plate and some straps to hold it in place. Need to get off my rump and order the LPG HW heater and pump kit.
