GTRV E350 4wd conversions?

I just found this company but can't find any info about their conversions. Can someone summarize or give me a link?

How does their conversion compare to U-Joint and Sportsmobile?

I have to say that their website is pretty darn spartan and "info free".

Thanks.

Hi John,

GTRV does not do their own 4WD conversions. They've used other companies (Quigley? Quadvan? not sure) in the past.

Cheers,

GTRV is a small, one-rig-at-a-time operation (at least their Vancouver shop). They will do great, custom work, and I can highly recommend them.

Any details for a 4WD conversion would be at least semi-custom. It would be impossible for GTRV to list all the options and prices for a 3rd party upfitter. I agree that their website could be better, but I don't think it's fair to knock them for lack of prices on 4WD conversions.

I would suggest sourcing a van, getting the interior conversion completed so you know the final weight, then arranging the 4WD conversion yourself. Many options there: Whitefeather, Quadvan, UJOR, Advanced, Quigley, etc.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Brent

Have you not heard back from Mike or Roy at GTRV?

Roy certainly does impressive work and was genuinely enthusiastic about the work I had already done to my van prior to his pop top installation. But I did my own 4x work; don't know anything about theirs.

I just bought a 01 E250 GTRV conversion. Sam Kroger did the 4wd conversion, and so far I'm very impressed with the quality of the camper conversion. The 4wd conversion seems ok, but with some problems mostly due to small design flaws that should be easy to fix. I found a broken transmission cross member, clearance issues with some of the components and the exhaust system seems pretty amateur, although I have no idea who did it. All in all, I'm quite happy with it.............Arctic Traveller

Yes, I did hear from Mike. White Feather does his conversions independently, so he doesn't publish any info. Which is less than helpful, since WF doesn't either. Their meager site is devoted to Sprinter conversions and doesn't even mention other brands.

IMHO if you show pics of tricked out 4wd vans on your site, you should provide at least a little information about where they came from, or it is purely misleading. Sportsmobile's site needs updating, but they sure have a lot of info about their (in-house) conversions.

Anyway, thanks for the comments. I am just sending out feelers.
