Guy Wires?

I have seen photos of vehicles that have a cable that goes from the front corner of the roof rack down to a connecting point, usually on a bull bar. The cables are on both sides of the vehicle.
What purpose do these wires serve?
Some sort of brush guard?

That and impeding one's access to the sides of the engine compartment.

:)

I still say it should be lickity spit easy to make removable limb risers. Just put a piece of sheet metal with a hole stamped in it at the top of your A pillars, then another either at the front corners of your hood or welded to the bumper, and go to the hardware store and get some 1/8 or 3/16 cable and D rings and those little twisty that put tension on your clothes line :))), when you need them just clip them on and tighten them, and when you don't just take them off and stash them in the truck. Brilliant! (this beer looks nothing like Guinness but there is no Guinness emoticon)

Not really here
#1 sign that you are a poseur

Hey! I use mine for rising limbs. I am the 1 percent that needs them. Surely most people don't use them but for my neck of the woods they come in very handy especially if you like your windshield wipers. They also keep my lights from getting messed up. To me they are worth the 30 dollars I have invested in them.

I will completely agree that they are a cheap poseur item, but I seriously need/ use them on nearly every outing that involves going off road. Though I will say that I don't go as far as putting springs on them. Regardless, they have served me well....

Yup - he's not kidding... saw it for myself last weekend. I took some good whacks - he brushed them aside.

Clothes lines... ;)

That's what we use them for. Other than that.. in the SouthWest they're pretty much useless.
