Gypsee Build full timer

Introducing myself. I’ve been on the road full time for over a year. Started with my trusty Tacoma that Ive had for 10 years. Bought a Tundra and have a GFC on that. But now I’m contemplating getting a toy hauler to carry a dirt bike possibly two and that will require a whole other truck. So I’m not sure. But I’ll be looking through this forum more for ideas.

Pictures of my current setup. It’s a really nice setup for easier travel and options. Like being able to use state parks. The trailer isn’t heavy duty but it’s working. Like using RV parks and state parks as a home base and using the lightweight truck camper setup to explore.

It sounds like you're ready for the 3/4 ton (F250/2500) world. The bigger challenge might be finding an affordable toy hauler on the smaller side. A larger toy hauler with two dirt bikes and all your gear might push you up to the one ton pickup world. The Tundra definitely looks like it's at capacity with your current setup. Have you estimated where you might be weight wise with all of the gear and dirt bikes you're looking to haul?

I’m thinking of a 7.3 Super Duty or a Ram 2500 with the payload I would be good to go. Gear wise I don’t carry as much as other people but…I would want a couch and table in the Toy Hauler. I’m trying to estimate the Costs and was looking at the Momentum 21G or 25G as an option. Also looked at Wolf Pup 22rr black label but questioning forest river quality. Not sure I want to spend, I think an extra 30-50k upgrading the truck and trailer after selling my current setup. I would buy used. But if a great deal on a HD truck pops up, would go for it.

and by not carrying as much as others I’m comparing to other full timers. Some carry stuff to be out for a month, I go more with a weekly basis and ok driving into town for more food, and gear.

Holly cow

How big of a toy hauler do you need? Mine is a 6X14 V nose and hauls an 1800 Honda trike plus stuff. Your truck should haul one without any issues.

Not big as far as toy haulers can go. The tongue weight on them is the problem, not the load I’m carrying. Looking at 26’-30’ and would prefer to stick to 26’ but it’s about 1000lbs on the hitch. Looked at the smallest ones too but something like the Momentum 21G has a good balance of living space and rear loading.

Exactly. When you fulltime, managing payload capacity is often more important than rated towing capacity. In either case, you want to be well below those capacities when you're a fulltimer. No one ever regretted having too much truck. If you find a great deal on a used HD truck, you'll have a lot of competition so move fast! I think an F250 with the Tremor package and the Godzilla gas engine would be pretty fun and functional for what you're thinking. Like everything these days...pricey. But like I tell people, it's easier to rationalize some of these high costs when it's your lifestyle and your house on a fulltime basis.

That is huge! Yep, you need a 250 0r 350, you'll have a mini mansion, best of travels and living on the lose. My goal has been to get rid of crap and travel light, totally different philosophy.
