I'm in the final stages before getting habitation panels for my custom expedition truck manufactured.
I often found it hard to find a reference for how heavy-duty to make everything, so I ended up doing a lot of simulations and calculations on my decisions to make sure I was happy with everything. I'm now very interested to see how my design compares to others.
My box dimensions:
L4650 - W2400 - H2343

Subframe made from 50x50x2.5 SHS

Total box weight is around 415kg. Subframe is 230kg, resulting in a total of 645kg.
The target vehicle is a Fuso Canter 4x4 LWB, which should be around 2770kg with a full tank. This gives me 1085kg or 3085kg payload for 4500kg and 6500kg GVM respectively.
This all feels pretty sensible to me, but I'd love to hear where other's DIY (or professionally made) solutions weigh in!
