:sombrero: I've used quite a few of BFG/Goodyear/Michelin, even had some Coopers-

I can't comment on MUD use, cause I don't do MUD, but snow/rain/ SHALE/ sand-

Hankook Dynapro RT03 LT 295/75x16 on my JKU and I'm a happy camper

That article has been on my mind all weekend. I'm seriously considering throwing a set of Hankook 37's on my Tundra in place of the 40" KM2's that are currently on it.

The biggest question I still have (that I can't seem to find an answer to) is how do they really measure, as compared to their advertised measurements?

The article claims they measure 36.8"....but they said the same about the KM2's and I know for a fact that those do not measure anywhere near 37". My 40's measure right at 38" with the weight of my truck on them and 30 psig of air. I know the 37" MT/R's w/ Kevlar that I had did run really close to 37" though. I'm really hoping that the Hankook's run relatively close to their listed height..............

My Hankooks are advertised at 33.6' and my spare is 33.6", but

The installed ones are 33.2" at 28 psi--it all depends on the vehicle weight and AIR PRESSURE-

99.9% of all tires are that way and it's only logic !

Logic maybe, but some companies seem to take more "liberties" in their listed measurements. Like I said, I've ran numerous tires on my rig and it's the BFG's that always seem to come up really short when it comes to height. Other than that and their silly sidewalls, they're still my favorite tires.

That being said, my truck weighs a ton and the BFG's have all been either "C" or "D" rated tires, so that plays a big part in it. That's why I'm saying if the Hankook's really measure anywhere close (like it sounds like they do), then with their "E" rating I should be good to go.

The 37" MT/R's I ran were almost as big as the 40" KM2's that I currently have, same pressure, both new. My 37" KM2's measured about 35-3/4" on the truck. My 35" KM2's measured about 33.5". My 35" Toyo M/T's measured about 34.5", so they were very close to advertised....and they were also "E" rated.

:sombrero: Yea, my Hankooks are "D" rated and I havem on 16x8" wheels, which is another cause for height variance !!

Oh, and my JKU weighs a little over 2 tons

They advertise that the 37" measure 36.8", and that's measured on a 10" wide test rim.

So I'm hoping that with my 8.5" wide wheels, combined with the "E" rating, they will measure at least 36.5" with street pressure and the weight on my truck on them.

Well, the 40" KM2's are gone and the 37" Hankooks will be here Thursday.....so we shall see how this little endeavor works out for me :D

just so people have reference, MT/R on the Goodyears doesnt mean mud terrain, it means Maximum Traction/Reinforced. they're not mud tires.

MT/R K's
MT/R's
KM2's
General Grabbers

the list goes on and on, these are not mud tires. they're rock and baja

I have no doubt the Hankooks are of mighty traction.

but..., can you air them down as much as a BFG with the same reliability?

There's no way to honestly answer that question-the Hankooks work great for me and I've had them to 12 psi and didn't need any lower than that--

One of the variables in BEAD SEATING is the wheel mfg-my ProComp extreme alloys have a bigger "bead ridge" so they are more stable at low psi-

I didn't have BFGs long enough to use them much on this JKU !

there is more to the 'bead ridge' than people think. from experience with the MT/R's and the KM2's, they have an exceptionally large safety bead. however i cannot compare them to others as i have not tested them.

i can say though, that my 37x12.50x17D MT/R Kevlars worked awesome at 2PSI

In my particular case I'm going to say yes, even more so.

With my "C" rated 40" KM2's and a 6,800# truck, I air them down to 20 psig and I can almost make the rims touch rocks in technical spots. With my old Toyo's that were "E" rated, I was able to air them down to 10 psig and they still had good support for the weight.

As far as aired down reliability, I have cut several sidewalls on both BFG's and MT/R's, to the point where I don't trust either one. The only tire I haven't managed to destroy was the Toyo Open Country M/T's I used to run.

One of my goals has been to get back to an "E" rated tire for that very reason.

Indecisive....who me :D? Just because I thought to myself on Monday....I wonder if these Hankooks everyone's talking about are really decent tires.....and then 24 hrs later I've sold my five 40's and purchased five 37's? Actually I over analyze things to the point that when I make up my mind I go with it 110%.
