If you had a couple of these Hardigg iM2750s what would they be best used for?

Spare fluids and chemicals in one and small spare parts and tools in the other. I use the Action Packers myself. The size is ideal but that's about it. I can get 4 in my rear storage area on the XJ.

Good stuff...

Thanks Guys,
Good info! I like the way you used yours in the XJ...clean and handy!
Using them for fluids, tools, small spare parts etc...was my first thought. I'm also wondering if they could be used for cooking/kitchen type stuff or spare clothes or whatever...Kinda just getting a feeler for what others use them for.
A side thought: Is it better to use several smaller ones or one or two bigger ones? I also have my eyes on a couple of the bigger footlocker looking cases. Don't remember if they are Pelican or Hardigg or ?? But they are about 3'WideX1.5'DeepX2'Tall?
I suppose it these are to big for the back of my scrambler I could use them in my Trailer build?

I have two Hardigg 2700s that I use as a kitchen and pantry, one I use as a suitcase, and another that acts as a range bag/misc. stuff box.
They rock!

I would like a pair up in the roof rack. Used for things I would need later into the trip, spare clean clothes, warm jackets as needed. Maybe fluids, if dirt/water tight sleeping gear for the RTT.
Uses would be endless.
Do you know where to get some here in EP?

Not sure where in EP you could find them? Maybe try the surplus stores? There is one on Fred Wilson (between Bliss and Biggs) and there is another on Dyer. The Dyer one is kind of a "hole" but they have literally a pile of stuff. I don't doubt that they fail to even know what is there anymore? They were a little less accomidating when I was in there but maybe you'll have more luck? The one on FW is more popular to us GIs since they sew nametags and sell stuff we need sometimes. With them, you may want to specifically ask the folks that work there if they have anything like a Hardigg or Pellican case. Just don't expect to much. If it doesn't make them money they tend to not keep it around...or so it seems?
Mine I happened upon in a connex full of "junk". It was being thrown away :)Wow1: ACK :Wow1:) so I claimed it for use...ahem. It will help me get some of my junk home and then go on to have a better life in my travels.
Funny thing is I was just cleaning it out when I saw your post. I think I am going to toss the foam from inside it. No idea what it used to hold but something very odd shaped?

Thanks, I've hit GI Supply up for lots of things, never seen any cases in there though, I'll keep an eye out for them.
Funny how you came across your cases. A friend of mine found two Zarges Aluminum Cases in the trash & grabbed them too.

out on a limb...

Without saying to much...
I think the axium "Reuse,Recycle, and repurpose may conflict with big "B's" Fraud, Waste, and abuse.?.
Being a natural scrounger I have found a zillion ways to improve the conditions here in the sandbox. As I write this I am sitting on what used to be a seat from an MRAP. It is now my "office chair". heehee.
But it really is somewhere between amazing and utterly sad at the amount of waste the Military generates. Some of it still highly useful despite its intended purpose. A Hardigg or pelican case is a good example. In my job we end up using a lot of old ammo cans for stuff. Everything from office type supplies to snack food storage. The keep the contents dry and rat free.
I'm hoping some more of those hard shell cases turn up in the trash so I can make sure my printer paper and Sharpies will make it home safely. Don't know what I would do with them when I get back though...Coughcough...

"A side thought: Is it better to use several smaller ones or one or two bigger ones?"

depends on how heavy they will become when packed. You need to be ok with lifting them in/out of the vehicle and positioning them for lashing down, as well as dragging them to wherever in camp they will be used.

I'm at my personal preference limit with a Pelican 1560 size. I drive a Wrangler with a rack over the back seat area.

Size can also dictate/limit how they will stow away in/on the vehicle, with the larger sizes offering fewer options.

Excellent point. I have two of the Hardigg 2750s. They have extendable handles and wheels like luggage. Nice if the surface is hard enough.
I also have a couple of the Pelican 1550s. They are a great size IMHO. One will likely turn into the kitchenware storage (plates, cups, utensils, etc) and do double dooty as a sink for clean up.
I found a green case similar in size (but not shape) to the 2750s. They look like a smaller (much smaller! Haha) version of this one sorta...In that the general design and plastic are alike. The pic by the way is a refrigerator/freezer I just bought off someone that got it via Govt. auction. It is incredable but just insanly large! Which kinda plays into what you were saying about size is important. With enough thought and planning one could do a decent job of organizing the important stuff. Relegate the less used or lighter stuff to the less accessable areas like the roof rack or under a shelf in the rear. Sadly, my FF (fridge freeze) is SO large it would take up almost all the room in the back of my scrambler. I may be able to squeeze in the two Pelicans but not much else! So it may end up in the expo trailer and the 2750s and 1550s will have more manuver room...?

On a semi related topic,

is there a concern regarding transporting fluids and chemicals in an airtight container. Obvious benefit if transporting within the cabin, but is ventilation preffered? Has anyone ever heard of a spontaneous combustion/explosion from such?

Not sure about the fluids, but I do know you should never put dry ice in an ammo can. We went to pick up dry ice for a trip the only thing I had to transport it in back home was an ammo can in the back of the cruiser. A 20 min ride back home when I unlatched both sides of the can at the same time it almost took my head off. The can was under pressure from the dry ice evaporating. Scared the crap out of me.

Both the 2750s and the odd ball green one have one way vents in them to relieve pressure. This is done initially (I think) since most of these are bound to spend a part of their life on a military plane, if not getting thrown out of one. So they need to be able to vent.
Just went and looked at the freshly cleaned Pelican and didn't realize it had a vent too! Just behind the carrying handle. Nice! At least I won't have to worry about a dry ice bomb! Heehee...

Not sure if you have your ham license or not, but I've seen some really sweet portable comms setups using these kinds of cases. Basically one or more radios, some sort of power source, mics, necessary cables, etc all crammed into one of the cases and bolted donwn to some sort of bracketry.
