Haro Cyclocross?

There is a Haro Cyclocross for sale locally (frame, fork, BB, seat post and BB) for $195. I can not find (Google) much info, if any, on line... anyone heard of/ ridden one?

Haro was/is a stut bike maker never seen a Haro cyclecross bike or road bike for that matter. If the frame and other parts are in good shape its not a bad price. Expect to pay about 500-700 in parts to build it up, such as wheels group set (brakes, shifters derailures ect). It could be cheaper if you just bought a complete bike new or used.

You will probably be better off just buying a complete new cyclocross bike. The other post is correct. It will take a substantial amount of $ to build it up and even then you will not the same service. With a new bike you will get a warranty and usually great service from a shop, most of the time it will include a free tune up or two and some kind of discount on parts/accessories. Maybe look at the Redline Conquest Sport its a do all CX bike. Front and rear rack and fender mounts as well as a triple crankest (3 front gears). That would be my pick for an all purpose road/ cyclocross / touring bike

I have many of the parts off old road bikes and mtn bikes. But can I use old rims, Like Mavic MA40s for cross racing?

Is there a width problem for wider tires?

Haro made a name for themselves in the BMX circles going back to the 80s. Even today, it's primarily a BMX brand. They've dabbled in road, mountain and 'cross in the last few years. Their bikes are made by Hodaka in China which isn't terrible.

Those MA40s will work fine for 'cross racing. For 'cross racing, you might even leave off the small chainring and run one ring up front with a keeper ring and some version of a chain keeper on the inside.

Lots of guys race on budget 'crossers. So much of it depends on the quality of parts you have available.
