Hey, um, if you happen to have an AT trailer or something similar, would you be kind enough to shoot a photo or two or three of how your tent is attached?

Gracias. . .

So Mark, ..... um ..... you gettin a trailer or somethin....?

That would be simpler.... but if I was, do you think that the selling point would be how the tent gets clamped to the cross bars? BWAHAHA! Yeah, okay, air suspension...powdercoated tub...boxed frame...but how does that tent mount? Crackin' me up, sir.

Actually, I wanted to see a close up - like what the esteemed Mr. Curren submitted up there. I'd like to get a Yakima track/rack system with the round cross tubes to mount the tent upon on the back of our truck. I was curious about the hardware that they use to grab onto the round bars....and I like what I see. (Thanks Steve! Perfect!)

Sarge, while your photos weren't quite what I was looking for, they are gorgeous photos.

Wil, what can I say? It's a fantastic photo, but you just don't follow directions. :p However, that beautiful trailer has round load bars so I'd LOVE to see if the same hardware is being used to clamp the tent down. HINT HINT.

I will admit, though, that I did not give perfect instructions. I owe Steve a beer already, and now I think it's two since he came through with an A+ submission.

The mounts are the same as posted by Steve, however I think the later AT's switched to different mounting system. I know BajaXplorer has a custom mount where his Eezi-Awn mounts similar to Scott's platform on his truck.

Word of advice though, use a thread locker on all mounts.

Hello Mark,
All you need to use is Yakima's Univeral Snap Arounds. ($8.00 US) Just snap them onto the Yakima cross bars and insert your bolt. I use these to attach my alluminum flat panel on top of the Jeep. I have never had one break. If you are concerned about the weight of the roof top tent simply install more Universal Snap Arounds. I would put 3 to 4 per bar. That would be plenty. Here is a link to Yakima for the Snap Arounds.

Here is a photograph of my Jeep with the Aluminum Top Plate and my Thule box loaded up in Mexico. These plastic clips will hold the weight. The second shot is a close up of the underside of the Aluminum Top Plate. If you look closely you can see the clips. I use 5 Universal Snap Arounds to hold the plate down. The 5th one is simple used to keep the plate quiet.

welcome

Let me know if you need more photographs. I will try and snap some good ones.
