Wen and I are planning a last trip before the little adventurer arrives. :av-7: The cool part is that we have the ability to travel inter islands, and can check them out.

Any recommendations besides :suning: :snorkel: :eatchicke :steak: :REExeSwimmingHL: ?

I would like to do a zip-line tour, but I am not sure as Wen will be 6-7 months along at that point.

How long do you have? Which island will you be based on?

I think Wen has us planned for a week. We have reservations on one Island, (she made them so I am unsure and was bored at work & started this thread) but can jump to the airport to go to another Island for the day if we want to.

On Kauai - south side - Waimea Canyon and Kokee State Park - and on the upper north side - Na Pali Coast - great side roads all the way up to the end of the road ( there will be some traffic areas around Puunene )

Maui - while it has beautiful beaches and Haleakala - IMO it also has too much traffic to really enjoy getting around

Kristina has been on the special island of Molokai and speakes highly of it

very traditional Hawaii and quite unspoiled - since you have inter island access this would get my vote as a must see island http://visitmolokai.com/

If you really want to see Hawaii, get off Oahu and head for Kauai (my personal favorite), Hawaii (the Big Island) and Mauai.

Of course in a week, you'd best just choose two destinations.

Kauai is the "Garden Island" very lush and green in the north and northeast, and amazingly arid in the south. The Na Pali coast in the north is an awesome trail that is not too challenging but lots of tourists. The Waimea canyon area in the south and southewest has some great areas to explore also, and if you head west from there you can find an awesome fairly quiet beach down a dirt road a few miles. (If you get serious about this let me know and I can talk to you more about it).

The Big island is amazing for its volcanic activity (and two earthquakes in the past 3 months). You can jump in the car and head to the Volcanoes National Park where you will find, of all things, a lush tropical rainforest. A few miles farther down and you are in the middle of a lavafield that stretches all the way to cliffs along the sea.

Mauai is beautiful but loaded with tourists. Haleakala (volcanic mountain) is pretty impressive and a small town, Hana, is beautiful. There's a nice drive around the northern end of the island. Mostly a hang out at the beach island. I never found much in the way of places to explore though I know they exist.

Anyway...HTH...let me know if you want to talk more in person. I can also recommend a few books depending on where you might want to go...

In case you were wondering, I kind of like Hawaii!

We are actually staying on Kauai. We have 4 night and 5 days to enjoy the water and sun. I am, of course, looking forward to snorkeling :snorkel: , but had someone tell me that at 6 1/2 months pregnant, trying to swim on my belly will be like swimming ontop of a beach ball :av-7: ... sounds like fun!!

Idea: We are going March 30th - April 5th.. anyone wanna come with?
I get buddy passes (9 left) on US Airways so round trip to Hawaii (space available) is only $210.00

If people come, then I can :suning: and :REExeSwimmingHL: while Wil :roost: :rappel: and :friday:

I also should have some buddys passes for go! airlines (interisland) that should allow RT travel between islands for free, if any one is interested.

Kauai North beaches - Anini Beach towards the end of the park is real nice ( we camped there for two weeks last visit) - YMCA beach (slightly hidden) - and Hanalei are sweet!
