Headlight Washer Question

So in my ever deepening quest to get everything on the Monty working as it should I've gotten to the headlight washers. The manual states there should be a button on the end of the headlight stalk that activates the washers but mine doesn't have the button! I have all the lines, washers, pump, etc, etc, and I have the winter package to boot but no button to activate the headlight washers. Anybody run into something like this before? Is there an alternate way to use the system? If not the only thing I can fathom is that the headlight stalk went to ******** and somebody replaced it with one without the button....

Signal stalk was probably replaced sometime in the trucks past with a non OE or not the correct one. What year truck? I might have the correct one for you...

That was the case w/mine when I got it. Went to pick-n-pull and got one off another Montero for $20.

New for the '98 they are about $60. If you are interested in the used one I have I'll check the part number tonight to see if it is the correct one for your truck.

I just bought one from plh (thanks again!) so that's one less thing I guess. Got digging around last night while I was greasing the U-joints and whatnot (had a TON of rain here in TX from the recent hurricane and there was a lot of swimming for the Montero) and got to looking at the horns. They haven't worked since I've had the truck and I found a plug that seems like it should go to a horn relay. I tested it with my multi meter and sure enough, the four wires are power, signal, ground, and the wire out for the horns. SO at some point someone has removed my horn relay. I think this has something to do with the ******** alarm (factory?) system that is present but also not working and why I have a key fob that doesn't lock/unlock even though I changed out the battery. So short term I'm going to wire in a relay for the horns but now I guess I need to figure out just what in the hell is going on with this alarm nonsense.

Alarm Nonsense

Search this forum for "alarm removal" or just "alarm". There is an excellent post on the alarm removal, with very clear instructions. i was so happy to have that thing gone.

there is part about alarm removal that can make it difficult - hood and gas release bolts. Very easy to strip but if you have impact wrench it will be a lot faster, easier and safer for the bolts

^ Yea I've read mention in the various alarm threads I found about those bolts. I was hoping to get a look at them today but didn't get a chance.
