Headlights

I have a 1998 Ford e350 Econoline van. The headlights are terrible. Recommendations for a new setup would be appreciated.

Do you still have those auxiliary lights on the front bar? The would significantly block the headlight beam mounted like that.

I think mine work a heckuva lot better than my old F-150's...

Someone installed Truck-Lite LED Sealed Beams into their E-line...can't remember their name, sorry I literally just woke up *yawns* But they're happy with their results.

As far as bulb upgrades go, I lean toward Philips Xtreme Vision...although a couple 6" driving lights will also soon be finding their way to my rig...

Yes, I do. I never thought about that, although I don't seem to notice any kind of shadow from them. I'll have to check that out. Thanks for the thought.

+1 for the trucklites. Saving my pennies.
BBasso, installed a set and he ended up running an additional set of halogen fog/driving lights for rain; something to do with the LED not illuminating the same way in wet weather. Otherwise, I know he loves them.

And another option is a hella or Cibie h4 conversion. A bit cheaper than the other options mentioned and most people seem to be happy with the improvement. A big gain over stock, maybe not as good as led or projectors.

I would just get a set of driving lights and mount them on the bumper. Hella is a good brand. You should be able to find a pair for under $250 after shipping. However, you should make the distinction whether you want driving lights or fog lights. Fog lights, when properly aimed, don't emit light more than two or three feet above the ground. They're meant to help illuminate the roadway and markings more so than project light down the street.

Driving lights, however, emit light everywhere like a standard headlight.

They are pretty easy to install and most kits come with the necessary wiring, relay, swithc, mounting bracket, etc.

I was very happy with a new set of the composite headlights and good bulbs to go in them. Pretty cheap IIRC.

That being said I am mounting a 50" led driving light on the bus too. For long runs into the mountains and back woods the throw of the big light bar is unbeatable.
