Heavy tool box sliding rails.

Railroad tracks.

Two lengths of angle iron, facing in, are the rails - one along each side.

Hard rubber wheels (not casters, not swivel) mounted to the box. They will double as an easier way to move the box around if you take it out. They could even be within the box with slots at the bottom for the wheel to poke through.

Flat strap hasps that wrap all the way around and fasten with heavy padlocks in some convenient manner. Maybe even a fence lock so you can add a remote release.

Release the hasps and roll the entire thing back. Drill holes in the vertical face of the angle iron rails and you add attachment points for gear stowed behind the box.

Scrounge an old bed frame for the angle iron and the wheels could be from HF. I am thinking of the ones with a white plastic wheel, a hard rubber tire, and a square aspect ratio.

All those drawer slide options steal space for the slide itself and what it needs to be mounted to, and you don't have a lot of space to deal with. This approach does not take away as much.

Can you access the back of the box from between the seats? If so, maybe mount the release behind the box - the steel hasp straps wrap over the box from back to front, and the padlock is reachable from in between the seats. Many possibilities.
