not to mention less wear and tear on the car a bit better milage more room inside etc...

since we had this killer conqueror trailer and loved it and I do miss it at times :)
got burnt out towing and extra expense but was used to huge living :)
still have a tiny vehicle for family of 4 and two dogs ! but we manage but have to say the more I go small and lighter the more I am also thinking of not tweaking my next rig as much and get the better mileage so I can afford to go more places and stuff while I might get a trailer again one day will be small and light and have some kayaks on it mainly

we hav been simplifying at home some to :) just burn out on stuff anymore ;) at the point less and nicer things and trying to cut down on extras

This is what has worn me down over the years, as well as gear storage. For maximum comfort I have a Kelty Trail Ridge 4 tent, large cot, and large mattress. The Helinox Cot, Trail Ridge 3, and a smaller mattress weigh half as much and take up half the space in the car. I also get tired of planning meals and preparing food so sometimes I eat simple cold meals. What I really want to do is bike, hike, kayak, and sit in a chair by the fire and read, not be constantly messing around with gear. The logistics of camping can be exhausting and caotic. I may be ready to simplify camping, and the rest of my life too, come to think of it.

I wonder if that will be the high back one ? cause it looks taller in that leaked pic :)

sweet except I want it this year :) before our next long trip !!!!

Big Agnes told me today that next year Helinox will have a taller cot and chair.

I'm hoping the SEAT will be higher off the ground. Does it look higher in the "leaked" photo? I sure would like to see a photo of the new cot.

Update on Helinox Cot One

In my original review I said that I wouldn't use the Helinox Cot One for kayak camping. Since writing that I got a new kayak that has more volume in the hatches (140 liters). The Cot One fits in it easily.

I've used the Cot One for car and kayak camping several times now and love it. It's extremely comfortable and easy to assemble and take apart. No regrets about spending $225 on it thanks to perkj's recommendation.

I'm REALLY loving the Helinox Sunset chair. It's so small and easy to assemble that I take it on kayak day trips and am thinking of taking it on day hikes.

I highly recommend these Helinox products, especially if you can find them on sale.

I honestly didn't pay that much for the mattress on my bed at home. Or for the bed.

Nope, I bought a used Eddie Bauer thing that is identical at a swap meet 10 yrs ago for $7. I think that much for a cot is ridiculous, but
lots of people have that kind of money to spend, I sure don't.

For those who like sleeping on cots they are worth every penny..

That may be true about the Helinox Cot One, but I wouldn't pay $400 for the High Cot when you can get a Camptime Roll-a-Cot for $130. The Roll-a-Cot is supremely comfortable . . . but a pain to set up. I think the Helinox is only competitive and the price slightly justified in the ultra-light category because it's much better than the Thermarest Luxury Lite and the Travel Chair Sleeprite. That's about all there is in the "light" category, and Helinox beats the other two hands down.
