Hella 4000 mount modification

Well, I got my 8274 all mounted up and I was mocking up my Hella 4000s to see how they would fit and to get an Idea on wiring and such. The problem is that while the USDS lamp fits fine, the USPS lamp looks to need the corner shaved down to clear the winch.

Has anyone had to modify the base this way? I'd like to know before I ruin it.

If you were to build up the base, would the bolt be long enough still? Also, would the angle of the light still be OK?

I'm asking because the first thing I would look at is adding some sort of spacer. Even a drilled hockey puck might work.

You Canadians and your hockey pucks...

I took the base off the light and I can put whatever length bolt I want in there. I think I could get away with a half inch of spacer and a little corner trimming of the base.

Can you drill another hole for the light in the mounting tab? It looks like you only need 1/4" or so toward the inside to clear? What about drilling holes as far forward, but still centered? Just the thought process I would go through before thinking about shaving the lights.

My first thought was spacer washers or go to a welding shop and get 2" of 1/4 or 3/8 streel and make 1" square spacers - paint it black to match the bumper.

Save the hockey pucks for a body lift, its an Atlantic Canadian tradition.

I'd cut the existing tab off with a cut off wheel, get some 1.5" square tube or what ever the OD of the round tube is, take my hole saw to it, drill a hole in the top of it, select the place for the new tab, clean the paint off, weld on a new tab, and touch it up with some spray paint...your done.

Let me know the next time you are in Chandler...it can be done in a half hour...heck I may even have the steel.

Stupid question but will the light on the passenger side fit mounted to the upper light mount "upside down" with out the 8274 getting in the way?
