Just trying to get some help and or ideas as to what is the best method for wiring 4 Hella 4000's on a roof rack??? I also want to figure out some type of a quick connect/ disconnect for the harness so I can take the rack off from time to time???

Any help or ideas would be great!!!

When I first saw the post I thought of what I used on my bumper which is a 2 wire connector acquired from my local auto store. As for a multi light setup such as your roof rack I might go with a trailer connector of some sort. I thought quickly about a quick connector like used for heavy duty applications such as a winch or remote power source.

I used a 7 way trailer connector to wire these up. It was kinda big but it worked well.

Depending on the amp draw of your lights and whether or not you will use them all at the same time or not will play a part in wire size. Make certain your ground is big enough, I melted a ground wire once before due to lack of capacity.

I used weatherproof quick connectors from Summit to wire up my lights on the ARB. I had to take the bumper off once and decided that it probably wouldn't be the last time the problem of having lights wired to a bumper that had to come off would happen. I know someday I'll fill the winch cut out at least... Anyway, these look like factory GM connectors with the little accordion boots.

Edit: Just noticed that Painless sells them, which is probably where the Summit ones come from. I'd guess they'd be good for about 10 amps or so, which is roughly a 120 watt light. I'm pretty sure I ran my pair of Hella 500s on a 2-connector.

Summit P/N for the big kit is: 900403
Painless P/N for a 2-connector kit is: 70402

Come to think of it, Hella 4000s have a connector on each light. Why not just use that instead of introducing more connections and possible failure points? Just a thought.

Yeah those are good!

Thanks for the comments and ideas!!! The Hellas do have connectors on the back of the lights, I was hoping to not have the rest of the wires hanging out side the truck when the rack is off.

You will probably want "maybe not" wire them in series. I had my 2 outer lights facing toward the corners and were wired together, then the 2 inner lights facing foward and wired together. That way when I wanted to illuminate the corners w/o the center and additional amp draw I could.
