Hello Fellow Land Rover Owners

Thanks, Ben! I appreciate the vote.

Ron, Ben, and Steven, I'd love to go on a trip with you guys. I'm still learning the ropes when it comes to four-wheelin, but I'd love to give it a go. What time of year do you guys normally go? I'm guessing summer some time.

I'm still in the building phase of my Tdi. I've had it out twice, and I'm amazed with the performance. Truly a great machine. Diesel power off-road is incredible.

I just did a Defender brake upgrade today. New rotors, calipers, pads, and new brake lines. Definitely a worthwhile mod. Easy too.

Keep me in the loop. I watch the lrrforums.com page too.

Also, Ben. Dweb is down, but I sent you a message.

Jason
Jason would be a great addition to the group.

I hope I can join you guys again this year, if you go. I also hope I can bring the '65... but.... you know how that can go! Otherwise, I can just be careful with bringing the '04.

As it gets closer to May, I'll be checking in on the NCLR site to see if you guys are planning anything.

Jason, we should meet in Pendleton some time and go south from there, there is a LOT to see in that country.

Also, yes, Ro is in Australia again. He is on Facebook, so I can contact him. He currently has a Tdi Eurovan camper that he tools around in. I think he also has his dad's old Series I that is being restored. I too would like to visit some time, but I have no idea when that would happen.

It's been in June in the past. I've been with the group twice now, and they are a great group of guys to go with. I really hope I can tag along next time!

Here are the pics I took, Ron is in his one-day old D110 in 2007, and in 2008 he is in the '04 Disco with the Yakima basket on top:

2008

Try to imagine that I got the colors right on those -- I edited most of them with Picasa, which is not the best way to edit photos. By the way, our friend Andy is featured in the 2007 set, that's his truck purposefully taking on the rock on the hill.

Ron - do we have a date set for the 2010 Oregon trip set up yet? I have been involved in the planning but new babies:chef:, new jobs, etc., have always kept me from attending. I am hoping that Suzi lets me out of the house for the 2010 trip! Plus Nate is now producing front radius arms so I am keen to try out a pair long distance with my new springs.

Also, any idea on what route we will take the next trip?

Hey Steven and others, sorry for the late reply.

I am a wknd web surfer here @ the Expo (need to figure out how to turn on email respond alerts if avail). And last wknd, I was out and about on the Lost Coast and now just getting back to you Steven: http://www.spotadventures.com/trip/view/?trip_id=183236

Let me talk to Leigh/Brian and see what they think (these guys helped plan lat year and 2008).

I attended both 2007 and 2008 Oregon trips in the past, but due to the economy this year, had to stay put and missed the 2009 trip. Would like to make the 2010 and depending on coin toss - I will bring either the 110 or DII.

And speaking of the Lost Coast, that's another trip I'd like to plan in the spring of 2010; perhaps get our friend Ben and Jason to join us if their time permits.

And back on topic, I will get back to this group on this thread re: the Oregon trip for 2010.

Ben, great to see your pictures of the Oregon trips. Saw them before and great to see them again to get the energy moving to help plan another trip for 2010.

Will update you, Jason and Steven once I get feedback from Leigh/Brian (guys who helped planned past trips).

sounds good. Thanks for the update. I sent you a message on lrrforums and here. Redeem sent me another email. He got another group of tents on order. Should be there on the 10th. The used ones sound pretty nice too.

As far as dates, keep me informed. What time of year do you guys normally go? I have a few dates I wouldn't be able to make it, but sounds like a must-go trip!

No coin toss. I've never seen a real Camel Trophy. Think you need to being it :)

Jason/Ben and others reading this,

Brian (who drives the 2004 G4 Edition DII and on his third annual for the Oregon trip) is planning the Oregon trip again this year and he is looking @ June 18 to 23, 2010; I will post the link of the trip planning thread once we get it started.

I think the plan is to leave after work Friday June 18 and meet @ camp ground either close between the borders of CA and Oregon. Then spend Sat, Sun, Mon and Tue on the Oregon Pioneer Trail. Return home Wed.

folks with limited time-off probably can join the group on first half of the trip (Fri thru Sunday).

Ok, catch up with you all soon.

Sounds great. Perfect time for me. I'm excited!

What is the technical level of the trails? My rig isn't stock, but it isn't built to Rubicon levels yet.

I just bought a RTT. Am I going to be too top-heavy to traverse the trails?

You'll be fine! With proper front and rear recovery points we can guide you through any terrain you will encounter on this trip.

Sweet. I have Safari gard front and soon a Safari gard rear. I should be good then.

Steven, I'm itching for ink work. Wanna bring my current ink down just below the elbow. Wanting to stay same theme. Any ideas?

Find a good artist and pay them well for their ideas. Keep looking for the right one that fits your personality, understands your overall theme and, of course, it good with the gun!
