Hello every one

My name is Joseph and I'm working toward buying my first expedition vehicle. I found a Mitsubishi Pajero recently and I'm very curious on knowing the year and the model of this cute little truck.

The story behind the truck is ; the original owner drove the truck from Vancouver to Ottawa two years ago and left it in a friends back yard. The owner wants very little for the truck however he is out of province and has lost the ownership. The owner is willing to spend me a new ownership if the truck is bought, I don't know any info of the truck minus the milage, I'm looking for the year and possible motor the truck has and any other infor that you think would help

What does the people of EXPO think of this truck for a starting point, I'm a machinist and currently going to school for engineering. I'm looking for a great little truck to commute with and get me though any snow storm and to take camping

Thank you for your time

1991-July 1993, The available engines included a 3.0 liter 12-valve SOHC with ECI-Multi electronic fuel injection and a 2.5 litre turbocharged diesel engine (4D56T) with an intercooler.

What does the people of EXPO think of this truck for a starting point,

Excellent starting point. Nice early Gen 2 SWB, too bad we can't get these here (yet). Too bad its a RHD. Guessing its cheap - really cheap. Looks like some rust and has been bumped around a bit.

Hard to tell by them pictures. To get a gauge on the age you're best looking on the inside at the climate control unit,if it is one with 2 rows of buttons and a red 7 segment display of temperature it is pre mid 95,after that it got a LCD and a knob for the temperature. The gauge dials changed from orange to white at the same time. Around 1993 the wheels changed, from the type it has on the back in the picture,to the type it has in the front,so it is quite hard to put an age on the truck.

That one has a 2.5 diesel in it,which is a bit gutless for the weight of the truck, but it still isn't the worst either. My guess is it is a pre 94 truck going by the colour, and most of the imports here in that colour are 92,93 and 94,after that they started coming in different colours.

I wouldn't worry too much about the year, but more the condition of it,make sure it starts up and runs alright, and that there isn't a load of oil in the intercooler. Make sure the top radiator hose can still be squeezed slightly when it is running,if it is rock hard it means the head is probably gone. After running it for a while, turn it off and start it again after 5 minutes, and make sure it fires up without the need for too much cranking, that eliminates the fuel lines being corroded and air getting into the system.

They are simple enough to work on,especially the diesels so you probably will be able to figure it out pretty easily with a bit of guidance from up folk on the internet

Or via decoding the VIN. maybe Mitsus are different but every other car I'm familiar with has a digit in the VIN that is for the model year.
