Several questions... How much do you estimate the trailer weighs now? Which Jeep did you get?

i am not shure of the weight

its fairly light considering. I could tow it with the yot but hills sucked

I would expect that trailer is less than 2000 pounds, which is the max capacity of a TJ. I suspect your YJ has about the same capcity. Your engine and gears should allow you to tow the trailer without too many problems. If you find you are not stopping like you want, you can upgrade the trailer brakes to electric.

i have elertic trailor brakes
on the truck and trailor

the question is not can i tow it i know i can its will it be easier to make this work or should i get a new trailor

ok what i want out of a trailor. To go whre my jeep can keep me warm and dry. Now its not small its not narrow.

So should i armor and lift this one ot start over

IMHO, I'd start over and build from scratch. That version of popup is to big, bulky, and weak. There's realy nothing there to benifit you using it, sans maybe the title. If your state has easy titling procedures for custom built trailers, sell the pop up to some one to use for a utility trailer. If not use it's title and sell it with out one.

Contact Euro.love to see how this project is working:
http://expeditionportal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13650&highlight=pop

This may help you decide to modify or go in a different direction. Initially, I thought your trailer was just a little larger than Euro.Love's and I assumed you were considering the same type of mods. Given that, it was just an issue of can you pull it. Now that I looked at pictures of both trailers together, yours seems to be much larger. Even mild NF roads can get narrow. You might be better off doing something else.

Good luck, and please post whatever you end up doing.

I would sell it. I have a 1984 Starcraft pop-up and it is a royal pain to haul. I tow it with a '03 wrangler with the 4.0 I-6. I do take it camping right now but I couldn't imagine taking it on trails.

I'm building my own expo trailer off a M416 base right now and as soon as it's done I'm going to sell the pop up.

well in talking to the outher half she has a few requierments.

her list

Must be able to stand up and change.
must have room in side to be out if the rain and not stand the whole time
must have room to cook inside

her rules can be mended with a few conditions.

1. She never has to cook.
2. I promis to never camp in the cold or rain.

so my new idea

Take the rear section of my trailor and spin it side ways build a new frame.
This will give us the section that has the table 1 bed and only be about 65" wide. the bed will pull out to the side in sted of the rear un less i build new tracks also.

The best plan would to be just us it 4 parts and build from scratch.I have never done the smart thing tho.
