Help Me Adventure-ize my XJ

The biggest draw back of an electric winch is the cost, but I think when you use it a time or two you would be glad you spent the money on it.

I believe it was StumpXJ on this forum that made a rear winch bumper for his jeep but I may be wrong.

Seems the ability to winch from the front or back makes a hand winch or come-along a very appropriate tool to have. Wonder why no one has made an electric hand-style winch that can be hooked from front or back but runs on car power. Heh I'm sure it would be weighty but seems the ability to yank from either end would be pretty stellar. :wings:

that said its plenty of food for thought here.

You can get a cradle to mount an electric winch in and the cradle just slots into the receiver hitch of your towbar, mount a receiver on the front and rear and your away, even make a mount for one on the sides if need be.

There is such thing as a small hand held electric winch for motorcycles but it is nowhere near strong enough for a jeep though. I saw a guy with an ATV winch on the front of his Blazer and thought about giving him my number so that when his winch fails he could hire me to come pull him out.
