Alright...give me some ideas or thoughts...I am looking at two hundys...

1. 98 with 120k white with tan...the timing belt was done at 90k...no idea about water pump or anything else...price 10-11k

2. 99 with 120k blank and tan...timing belt and water pump done at 100k...starter changed at 110k...12-13k...

Please let me know any thoughts or ideas to help me decide!!!!

Thanks.

Maybe you can determine which was driven and maintained by the more mechanically adept driver?

Look at tire wear from alignment issues, quality of filters and oil used, pedal wear etc.

A good thrashing of each will help determine things :smiley_drive:

Does either have maintenance records?

Main. records for the 98 are none...the 99 was maintained at the dealer for the last 30,000 miles...i can contact the dealer to inquire, etc. he gave me the name and number...

Quality of Filters? Not sure what you mean?

If it has cheap vs high quality oil and air filters, could help determine if the previous owner really understood maintenance or not.

Cheap tires, too. Look for the person that paid a bit more to get better parts. Like the other member mentioned about oil filters.

If you can live with either color, than I think this says a lot right here. The last owner of the 99 went to the dealer for service. At least it's a known factor unlike the 98. I'm guessing neither has a locker or you would have mentioned it.

As I have never seen a blank and tan, I would go with that one ;). Seriously though, it sounds like both rigs are very similar. I would do some serious crawling around under them looking for signs of leaks and rust. That along with the interior condition and color would make my choice for me. I love black vehicles, but only when they are at the dealership as they never look that good again.

Thanks for all your insights and help...yes, both have a rear locker. A definite must! I'll keep you posted...

As long as both are in good overall condition, I would personally go with the 99. Rear A/C, and you know the water pump and starter have been done. Both can be problem areas with 100 series and are pricey to fix. Oh yeah, and black & tans are cool! :ylsmoke:
