Help! My Motorola Saber Convertacom wont charge the radio

Hello.

I wired my VHF Motorola Saber Convertacom in the Blazer a few months ago. Now, It wont charge. There is power to the unit, it just wont charge.

Any ideas to troubleshoot?

I looked up some info at batlabs and it didnt answer any questions.

I did double check the wiring today. Like i said, the unit DOES have power. It simply wont charge.

Do the batteries charge in another charger? Is it a charger issue or a battery issue?

The sabers have two different size batteries. One is for the Astro model and one for the regular model. Either battery will fit on either model radio, but they won't make contact with the charger correctly. You really have to wiggle the radio just so to get the wrong battery to charge. Then when you drive it quits charging.

The longer Astro radio should have the shorter battery. The shorter radio should have the longer battery.

I checked the batts. They do charge and hold a charge in the desk charger. Not the case with the convertacom. I do believe these are the correct batteries to use with this.

After all, the convertacom does have power and works fine when the radios are fully charged.
