Help with ARB Front Bumper Install..

Hey Gang,

I have an ARB front bumper on order for my LR3 and was wondering if anyone in the NJ, NY or PA areas wants to help me do an install. I'm flying solo and would love some help OR if anyone knows of a good inexpensive shop to do the install I would LOVE a recommendation. I got a couple quotes that the install takes 10 hours or so...ugh.

Anyway, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Alex

you won't be able to fly completely solo on this....when you go to mount the bumper to the LR3 you will need two people, with one capable of lifting the bumper (its heavy) while the other gets the mounting bolts in place. It took my brother and I roughly 13 hours to install mine. Nothing too difficult, just time consuming. If you follow the ARB instructions to a tee, then you'll have no problems installing.

If you have a cherry picker(engine hoist) you can do it by yourself. That's the way I did mine. Once it's supported it's not hard to position. You could even use a floor or transmission jack but it wouldn't be as safe. Good luck

The best is with three people, 2 on either side and one aligning from underneath. Though if it's flat on the bottom you can jack it up on a piece of wood with a floor jack.

First, here are some good local forums if you're looking to get involved in trips, etc.

Second, where in NJ? I live in NYC but have a garage for my truck in Hoboken. I just installed my old ARB from my D90 on a friend's 110 - it would have only taken a few minutes but his skid plate interfered and the bolts holding it/the steering were seized. I know an LR3 is not a Defender, but the weight wasn't too bad. :)

Thanks for the info guys,

Yea, there is no way I am doing it by myself, really just looking for a decent shop to take it on. Rijosho, thanks for the links! I am part of the NELRC, just have been outta the states for a while. I am in Northern Jersey, Ridgewood. What shop do you use in hobo?

Thanks again!

I haven't used any shops in the area, but there is Vinny the Rover Specialist in Garfield, NJ - but he's been getting some mixed reviews lately. I have a garage in Hoboken I keep my truck and all of my stuff in, and just have a bunch of tools. Nothing too fancy.

Feel free to PM me.
