Help with tire selection

I appreciate all the excellent tire advice, but what I'm really looking for is whether a 57 pound Lt285/75r16 tire is too much tire for my stock Jeep, or if I'm better off with a lighter P or C 265/75r16.

An Lt 265/75r16 C range Duratrac might be a good choice. I really like the 255/85r16 ST Maxx as we'll but it's also a heavy tire. Either if these tires would be about $200 more per set than the Hankooks or the Cooper ATP.

I have had the p rated Grabber AT2 for a few years now. Lots of rocks and streams and rough wheeling. Never had a flat or any problems with them.

Tire weight is a huge issue to discuss here but as mentioned those 3:21 gears are not in your favor once you start thinking about 285's. 265/75-16 would be a great compromise in my book between diameter, width and weight.

I'm definitely leaning towards the 265/75r16 size. Unfortunately the AT2 only comes in an 57 pound e range in that size or I would buy it in a second.

If you want to keep the weight down, try looking for a 235/85R16 (32" tire) or 255/85R16 (33" tire). They'll be a bit pizza cutter looking, but they still work quite nicely.
