Hemacool Refrigerator Help!

Hey guys, my names Mike, I've been pretty active over on TacomaWorld, but I think due to the diversity of this site I can find some more knowledge here. I've lurked from time to time and this site is an amazing resource of information.

I recently bought a second hand Hemacool refrigerator off ebay. It's in good shape and runs fine on AC power. The problem is that the wiring harness to connect the batteries is missing. It was sold with no batteries so when I bought new ones and went to install I made the discovery. The manufacturer can sell me the part for $78 but they require a $500 minimum order. And I can't find this part anywhere else on the web.

I think I can make the harness. It's not very complicated but I need to know a few specifics like which wires go where and what the spec is on the "fusible link" portion of the harness.

Here's a pic from the manual. It's not quite detailed enough to build from. I'm guess the small box thing is the fusible part.

Here's the plug on the fridge unit that the harness plugs into.

And here's the only pic on the entire internet of the harness.

So if any of you guys have one of these units, can you snap some detailed pics of the harness, plug, and fusible link? I'm really stuck and don't know where else to seek help. The fridge is awesome but without batteries it's pretty much useless to me.

Thanks a lot for reading!

I have a few of those at work. The battery connector looks just like the picture and can probably be had at an auto parts store or a radio shack. it is just a connector. I can not get any better pictures as ours are installed and I can not get a camera in them, but that is what it looks like. You should be able to rig it off of D/C power, although I think the voltage is different than 12v it is either 5v or 24v I think.

Those connectors are super common, we have them all over in our electronics lab at work. Try digikey or mouser. Schematic is available via google - seriously took me 2 seconds to find it by copying and pasting info in your post.

Thanks for the replies! The connector is a common part. It's a Molex part, PN: 39-01-2066. A connector and 6 pins was like $2.00 The guy I bought it from sent me some detailed pics of a friend's fridge so I now know how the wires match up. The last unknown is the box thing on the harness. Here's a pic of it.

I believe it's a battery temperature sensor but I don't really know for sure. It's my best guess though. I'm gonna try to build the harness with a Blue Sea battery temp sensor. (PN 1820)

Also I learned that the battery wires are made from fusible wire. Instead of that I'm going to wire in an ATC fuse holder into the positive wire of each battery.

Thanks for the help so far!
