So I discussed it with @Brian McVickers and @Scott Brady and the consensus is that we actually are okay with brand new member posting a for sale vehicle without having a minimum count of posts.

That said, I am working on adding a pop-up window to remind them of the rules.

Great more pop up’s.. will your pop up be underneath or on top of the wal mart pop ups?

Ad Block Plus extension works great to prevent those pesky pop-ups. Especially the video ones.

Maybe the reason most of the for sale posts are from newbies is because they bought into it and realized it isn't their thing, or they're spammers. I think a lot of the people who post regularly here won't sell our car/truck/Jeep/van/moto until they're clapped out and used up. I'd be embarrassed to sell my (future) used up Jeep on a forum like this. I'd more likely set it next to a road with a sign and sell it to a kid that wants something to ruin or work on. People who are regulars on here use our stuff, we don't sell it off every other year.

The reason the site management doesn’t want to limit sale ads to actual members vice the “one and done” folks that are taking over the site……they don’t want the the drastic reduction in site traffic. Sales ads are clicks and clicks count

When I am mobile, and looking at this site with my iPhone, ads make it very difficult to view this site. When I am at home, on my laptop, I can deal with it.

As someone new who is actually looking to buy a vehicle (I already had one seller back out), I think the for sale section here is a great service and, to some of the points earlier, that a lot of people "got into it" during COVID and are realizing it's not something they want to stick with and are selling their rigs now. This is a much more targeted forum than something like CL and seems to get more quality vehicles (quality, not price), than something like eBay.

I don't have any new ads or pop-ups, it must be my firewall. I only enable the bare minimum to allow websites to work these days. Same for email, it's almost totally eliminated junk mail

I will also add that there's a lot of value from people commenting (not on price) but on builds for sale if they look sketchy/badly done or great/well done.

I wish there was a way to filter out the rigs posted with inflated prices until AFTER the inevitable $20k price drop.

I’d say if a classified ad starts the week at $75k and ends the week at $55k after zero interest, the price was inflated.

GEEZ- who really cares.

If some perfect stranger’s ad sucks, who cares then he doesn’t sell it. It is self governing, it’s not your business . If the ad goes from just exaggerating to bold face misrepresentation, then he’ll probably be called out by the forum like the F550 DBL four wheel camper ad.

Im in here all the time looking for a specific truck. I cruise the titles and leave for the most part or have had a few comments/questions. It’s simply remarkable that people really spend their day sparing with sellers about their ads for which they have zero intention of buying? Case in point look at the ad challenging the guy with the 2019 Rebel for sale. Geez do you work for the DMV, we’re you a hall monitor in middle school or maybe you are on your neighborhood HOA board where you determine which color trashcan is permitted and the dates allowed for holiday light displays. LOL
