Hilux cab?

Hey all you canadian viewers. If you have a hilux up there is it right hand or left hand drive. I have a wicked idea for us guys down here in the states.

Im looking for a 90-95 toyota 4 door hilux cab, straight and clean, but im worried about the placement of the steering wheel and stuff.

Last I checked they drove on the right side of the road in Canada, too. Their pickups are LHD like ours. Unless they are an import JDM or something, then they would be RHD. They got the same trucks as us, so AFAIK they never got the Double Cab Hilux new, either. But I think it's easier to import stuff into Canada, so you may see Double Cabs and RHD advertised, but importing into the US might be a pain. If you are just looking for parts, different story.

All Hilux double cabs running around up here are recent JDM imports that are, indeed, right hand drive.

Well my train of thought is, get a 90-95 toyota pickup. Get a canadian hilux cab and bed. Then put them on my frame with a few body mout movements or fabrication. Everything should bolt up? Right? I was concerned about the RHD because in some countries (european mostly) they have right and left had drive vehicles on the roads.

Anyway, you guys think its do-able?


I will get pics of my "Lux" up as soon as I can. My connection right now isn't optimal.

It is definitely doable. Others have done it. The issue is are you willing to pay what its going to take to get a cab. Those things arnt just laying around. The people who have them know what they are and dont like to let them go.
I have looked into doing the same thing, either from CA or SA. But like I said it would be very expensive. Good luck and if you come up with something that works let us know. Also you might want to check out some Hilux forums. There are some informative write ups on importing options.
