looks much more solid than the typical long fj. a lefty to boot.

that would be a nice rig to turn into an extended cab pickup.

from previous rigs hes posted, he seems like a reasonable LC vendor.

That rig was for sale at Ih8mud prior to Bull getting it. Bull sold his nicer Troopy at that time as well, i believe the new owner has posted here.

A LHD Troopy in decent shape on the east coast would be awful tempting to me....glad it's in WA.

Is that price reasonable for a virtually non-drivable truck?

What can one expect to spend on *parts* for a rebuild of the engine? My gut instinct says the smoking is a bigger problem than led to believe. Also I'm curious how much bondo its got.

I really havent' had any issues getting troopy parts in the US. Even for RHD, I just run the part numbers for both markets, OZ & US, and most are the same.

For a 2H diesel, parts are available through Specter, and a nice Toyota dealer can order them if you give 'em the part #s.

White smoke in a diesel is typically a massively rich condition. Most diesels that I have worked on that have white smoke usually have a stuck or dirty injector that has fuel dripping from it rather than atomizing properly at the nozzle. A relatively easy fix. If I had the money to spend, that would be in my driveway, sight unseen, without a second thought.

Yeah, further in the thread they discussed the injectors and a new set is included in sale.

I wasnt able to open the file for some reason, but i remember a few pics from the last sale.. it really seems damn solid...and did i metion the LHD? Makes it much more desirable to me personally.

If it were closer i'd consider selling my rig to fund it for sure.

Worst case is a bad injection pump. ~350 to get rebuilt at Southwest diesel in Phoenix or you could probably source a new pump from a Toyota industrial lift truck dealer. Low compression or retarded pump timing can also give white smoke. None of these things would be a deal breaker if I were in the market.
